Are you saying the county cannot seize, and find loving homes for This Hoarders animals? With 23 or more of the 40 plus abandoned animals having serious medical issues that you have had to quarantine, pay for vet care, and medication, are you seriously saying there is a legal issue? Bullshxt !

No they can not seize the animals just because the owner is in jail they have certain rules regulations and laws they have to follow. The animals are quarantined on the property they are being taken care of if you do not believe this how about instead of complaining on here you pick up the phone call the shelter and volunteer your home and property to care for these animals and ask what their regulations are on siezers.

So you are saying the county legally must provide this hoarders animals with food, shelter, ect while she sits in jail, and spends the next 10 or so years in prison for felty arson. Really? Again, Bullshxt!

Instead of sitting here in a chair complaining about how things are being done legally, why dont you go help with the sitiuation and find out why things must be done a certain way? I bet there are some pretty good reasons! I am sure the people at the shelter would be grateful for the help. But does anyone on here really give a shit about the dogs we are speaking of? If you do step up and give a hand not just with these dogs but with all the dogs that are dumped on a daily basis. If you dont care then just shut the hell up.

Since you live near the home here is a perfect idea the shelter will no longer take care if the animals you do it instead. You have done not one damn thing to help other than sit on your cowardly Ass and complain. Grab a mop and bucket clean the home that is feces covered. Hell I know go to the store buy some food and feed them every damn day. If you really cared you would be helping the workers instead of complaining another idea since your dog is also ill maybe the shelter should come and take it because that is what you want done.

I like your way of thinking. If I knew you personally we would probably get along great!

1. The only laws I've found are in support of a humane officer seizing animals that are abandoned, sick, live in the conditions you just mentioned. I've found none that prohibit the law from taking them. Please share which laws and regulations you speak of.

2. I care about the animals getting out of the deplorable place they are.

3. Why would I want to clean the criminals house ? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Are you sleeping there, have you just moved in ? Does the law allow you to take control of someone's property, but not their abused dogs?

4. I don't sit on my ass, but I am complaining. My lazy ass works, and pays taxes. I dont beg for donations to get get drunk, instead of providing food, and medical care. Those funds we all have given up should be used to find these animals homes, not provide a sitting service for a criminals sick animals, and the filthy environment they are being kept in.

5. There is a huge difference between the care of my dog, and hers: I have only one, I keep up on all shots, provide flea, tick, and heart worm medication, provide a clean loving home, provide immediate vet care for all illnesses (including kennel cough). I know exactly how much it costs for a vet bill, and the medication to take care of my pet. I am a responsible owner wanting the same for those animals.

6. When these dogs are taken out of the nasty environment they are being forced to stay in, I will happily donate food for them.

Colena refuses to sign over the animals the shelter has close to 25 of them already and they have no room to take anymore this includes the puppies that have been born if you would walk your ass into the shelter you can count how many animals are there. The animals are not considered abandoned she was aressted if you piss off your neighbor and you go on vacation or out of town for acouple of days and leave your dog outside they could call and say you abandoned your dog the humane officers takes your dog then you would be on here bitching about your dog being taken. Only taxes that some people pay on their dogs is what keeps the shelter going ask the assessors office two tiny dollars per animal that's a hell of a lot isn't it when half the county doesn't even pay them do you? I do every year for my dog. Where did you find the regulations? Have you ever went to pet finder and looked at all the dogs that are adoptable? Every time that I have volunteered at the shelter I have bathed fed cleaned walked socialized the animals NO ONE DRINKS THERE GOOD LORD YOU ARE AN IMBICILE that just proves you run your mouth plus sit on your lazy ASS behind a screen doing NOTHING for any abused animals.

I am so sick of reading all the bull everyone is saying about the shelter. Why is there still animals tat her house you ask? Well we only have room for so many dogs. They are all sick yes. So we took the ones that were the most sick and treated them with what we had to treat them with. One good dose of robitussin helps kennel cough. As for adopting them out, when we can we will. I promise you will see them on petfinder. And as for the rest of the dogs at her house, they will all be taken to the shelter most likely by Friday. We are not house sitting for her, we are simply taking care of the dogs there that we don't have room for yet. Also all of you asking why are we not trying to find them homes, when we do start adopting them out are you gonna come down and adopt one? Probably not. I'm sure your just looking for a reason to bitch, moan and complain about things.

Also until you come down to the shelter and work a day in my dog poop boots I don't want to hear it. And as for your taxes taking care of my paycheck, we are the least paid employees of the county. It's not paycheck we are there for its the animals. Do please don't tell me I don't do my job when you clearly have no freaking idea what we do. Oh that's right this is Jackson county and everyone knows everything about everyone

Amen! You freaking tell these lazy ass people on here! Go spend a day there, I bet u won't last five minutes. The first time you see a dog brought in that is starved to the point that's a walking skeleton or have to scoop a pile of wormy shit I bet you run for the door! Bad things happen and they try their damnedest to fix it. Go down and give these dogs some of your attention! You will be paid with love in return not moaning and complaining. Just remember that dogs are very forgiving us humans not so much!.
thank you

You are one of the few people who do appreciate what we do and I can't say thank you enough. All dogs are doing great and a lot of them have already been adopted. About 8 or so left to be placed in permanent loving homes

On 8/18, I adopted a dog from an animal shelter in Maryland. She is a 1.5 yr old Shepherd/hound mix who craves affection and attention. She is very submissive, has no clue what to do with a ball, but now has a large fenced back yard in which she loves to chase squirrels around. She is gaining confidence every day in her new home. In doing some research I discovered that she came from Colena Martin. I'm happy that my search for a dog resulted in one of these dogs being rescued from deplorable conditions. I applaud all those involved in saving her life, so I could own a gem of a pet.
