why is it that the foreigners running these stores in Ripley are selling tobacco & alcohol to underage kids & nothing is being done about it? I have reported several stores to Ripley police dept & to the Sheriff's dept, but nothing has been done. If you go to the store on Washington street by the Dairy Queen/ZaZa's & the store by the old Hickory pit at lunch time & after school you will see it! What will it take for the police to take notice & do something? Will it take one of our kids getting killed drinking & driving or maybe they would do something if it were their kids

Trust me, I understand your anger on the subject. I also have a child. I have bought alchocol there a couple of times, but I was carded. I am in my mid thirty's, & I don't look underage. Is it possible these kids have fake id's? I know that it was easy to get a fake id when I was underage.

The place by Dairy Queen was the place to get cigarettes when I was in high school. I didn't smoke but I knew of a lot that did. They would card some, but not everyone. I went in there once to buy a pack for someone and they carded me.

I agree that these business should not be selling cigs or alcohol to minors, but come on we all know that kids are going to be kids and try this stuff. So like an earlier post said maybe they have fake ids. Don't go and blame the businesses before you clean out around your own doorsteps, you don't know if your child has a fake id or not. If the kids are taught right and brought up in CHURCH and live in a christian based home then you would not have to worry about your child trying to buy cigs or alcohol from these businesses now would you, so dont go and accuse the businesses in ripley they are trying to make a living blame your child for not being raised correctly. remember children do and try what they see, so if you are smoking and drinking guess what they are going to do or try and do it to. It is all in the way the child is brought up, it is not the businesses fault, but yes I agree it is against the law, but your child is the one breaking the law first by attempting to purchase it, so they are just as guilty as the business.

Please, don't start with bringing church into this. My grandparents took my dad and his sisters to church every time the doors were open and most of them ended up sneaking out and smoking and stuff. It has nothing to do with church. IT all boils down to the kind of person your child is. Like you said, kids will be kids.

first off it wasn't my kid buying the cigs & alcohol, I stopped in the store to buy a bottled water & 2 different kids from Rhs were in line in front of me & both purchased cigs & neither one was carded, & neither one showed an id, fake or otherwise. I brought it to the old man's attention that both of those kids were minors & that he didn't card them & he said that he had carded them earlier in the year & he remembered their birthdate. LMFAO! Im sure he did! The next day I came back at lunch time & 2 more truckloads of kids were there & this time they were buying SPARKS energy drinks & cigs. In case you don't know Sparks have 6% alcohol in them. None of those kids were old enough or were carded either. I knew 3 of those kids.I once again saaid something to the old man but it didn't seem to matter to him, that is when I reported it because it is against the law. Also, no i don't smoke & occasionally have a drink, but if I did smoke, I am old enough to LEGALLY do so. My kids have been brought up in church & regardless of what they have been taught, they will make decisions that I don't approve of, but they will have to suffer the consequences of their actions. My problem is with the people who break the law by selling to our kids & to jerks like you that say "Oh well they are going to do it anyway". If you have kids, I hope that it isn't one of your kids that they sell the booze to & then send them on their way to get drunk & drive, & possibly get in a wreck & kill theirselves or worse yet, kill some innocent person on the road. The biggest part of the problem is parents & adults that think everything is ok as long as no one gets caught. What the hell is wrong with that? I intend on posting everyday that I see this happen & hopefully it will save a kid's life. Also you are stupid to have a "SNITCH" mentality. Grow up & help save our kids from jerks like you!!!!!!!!!!

Kids will try to get away with things and it is up to all adults to teach kids right from wrong. It takes a village to raise a child.

Are the people in this town a bunch of idiots? Apparently so, if some of the above are any indication. The local police are the biggest joke around. When someone makes a complaint of this nature it could be easily checked by the police, but it is not done. Why? I figure because they are incompetent asses. The kids are being kids but you trust local businesses that get a license to follow the law. If not the state should pull them. Plenty of adults buy beer and cigarettes without a business resorting to selling to minors to make money. Anyone calling someone a snitch should grow up and be a parent. That shit went out in high school.

You, sir or maam, are an idiot. Business owners are supposed to be responsible adults. That means they are held to a higher standard than a bunch of kids. How do you not get that? The business owners know the law, they just refuse to follow the law. Pull their license and fine the hell out of them. You think the store owners by the high school don,t know that these kids are coming from the school to get cigs and beer. Of course they do. They just want their money. If that does not bother you, you are not much of a person or parent.

I agree with you, & the sad thing is that some of the police have children that are among the ones buying beer, alcohol, & cigs or blunt rollers from these stores & even that isn't enough to get the police moving on trying to stop it. If one of their kids gets hurt or worse, then will they take notice & try to do something? I know one man in the field of corrections that has a child that has had a close call due to someone selling and/or buying alcohol for the kid, but instead of trying to put a stop to it, the parent tries to cover it up, & all the kids around here thinks it is a big joke. Get a clue, it is a PROBLEM not a joke.

Calling people idiots while lecturing them? mmm-hmm, Yup, I'm going to take advice from you. Why don't ya'll step off your soap boxes! You can talk, yell, scream, lecture, bully until you're blue in the face, but a teen is gonna do exactly what they want. The more you scream and so on, the MORE they want to do it! As for "Chincs", they have been selling for YEARS. I bought my first pack there when I was 13 and that was 13 yrs ago, SO if something was going to be done about them, IF WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE! Do you honestly think it is some big SECRET!
