Well Lois I am sorry you feel that way. I grew up not going to church, not knowing anything about Jesus at all. But you can believe it or not I met Him as He dealt with me to come to Him. I did not go or neither had I been to church looking for Him, He came looking for me. Another thing is if you are set against Christianity why is it you on a topic about Jesus. Maybe you are looking for something to fill your heart as I was, but that something is a SomeOne! You will feel better sometimes then wonder if there is not more to this life than you are living now and there is without Christ is deadness and death, with Christ is light and life. I do not care who believes in the bible. I just don't. I do not feel any need for things like you do. These things you feel are in your head. If Jesus came to you why does he not come to me? I see millions of people with pain, sickness, hunger, injuries, and troubles in the world everyday on the news and Jesus has forgotten about them. Yet, he didn't miss you. Strange indeed. People are emotional and get caught up with "what am I going to do, my life is in a shambles" Then without knowing they work out their own problems themselves and give credit to a non-existant being. You never met Jesus. you talked to him but he never spoke to you. You never saw him you just knew he was there in your mind. He is there as long as you want him to be. He is your dream.

Like eveybody I have problems, No one on earth, rich or poor, don't. I work out mine without the help of prayer, seeing, or talking to a devine power. I get sick, I take care of it. How do think God got here, or there, or everywhere? You said he has always been and always was. Meaning, he had no beginning and will have no ending. Then we do not have enough numbers to guess his age. So he must have been somewhere for many years and then all at once decides to build a universe and put some little creatures on it and make them abide by the rules or die and go to hell. He also made it clear that he would do bad things to you but he loves you. Does that sound like the logical thinking of a supreme being? Sounds like men making things up to keep people in line to me. I believe Hitler told everybody to do as he said or he would kill you and your family and he did it to make a believer out of them. Very few had to be told twice.
People have no concept of eternity and how long several billion years really is. We live about 75 years or so and don't know the dirt at our feet is 5 billion years old. Why are there no people on Mars, Venus? Because the conditions are not suitable for humans. For us it is perfect and that's why we are here. Once we are here and begin to think man has wondered why he was here and where he came from. From that, you get many different tales of your creation. Couple that with a need for support during bad times and the feeling you are getting help from a supreme being and there you go.
As far as your prayer, you are not keeping up with the totals. You only see, or recall, the ones that worked. If I wrote you a list of 3000 things that would happen to you in the next ten years I would hit several just by accident. People 2000 years ago burned people at the stake, cut off their heads, killed animals for sacrifice, did all kinds of stupid things and then you believe the things they wrote about God. One last thing. How many Gods do you think there are?
