I am home almost 24/7 because of a disibility and never answer my door when someone knocks or rings. I DO however have a firearm within reach at any given moment and will use it. So, if the dogs barking won't discourage them then my .45, .38 or SKS will. I dislike using the SKS though as it tends to make such a mess of things.

You can have a gun AND get your throat slit and then have the gun taken out of your hand, the criminal now having a second one with which he then proceeds to shoot your grandma AND your dog. He can then get the extra bullets out of your coffee canister, reload, shoot your kids when they come in from school. Then he can jump the wall and enter your neighbor's house, shooting all of them sitting there in their kitchen. From there, he can reload again using YOUR bullets, run across the street and take the daycare center hostage. Later that same evening, he can shoot a SWAT officer thankfully with your gun because with his original gun he took out a parent coming in a back door looking for her toddler. He then will take a car from the parking lot and while driving along Paseo back into Albq, he can shoot at police giving chase but hit three innocent motorists instead.
So yes. I agree. Having a gun in your house is the solution.

He may not get his thoat slit. Nothing happened to the other homeowners. Sometimes things escalate. It is hard to know when to shoot someone and when not to. I hope Festus shoots them before they get to my house because I would have a hard time knowing what to do. Not that I am a liberal, but just because I would not want to shoot too soon or too late. That is the bad part of being a law obeying person confronted with a lawless criminal. We do not know what is in their head sometimes until it is too late. We do seem to be feeling a bit under criminal siege here. I know the statistics are really good but me and all my friends have been burglarized at least three times each. I hope they don't steal the crime records as we'll lose the rosy statistics.

If they come through the door, shoot them - make sure they're close or near death so they can't sue you.

It's your right as a homeowner to protect yourself.

I will always defend my family, myself, and my house PERIOD!! If you want go work for it like others did!! People have a right to defend themselves, their family, and their property.

After all trouble came to them they were not looking for it. The only thing you have to keep up on and understand is the state law basics on use of force – and the threat is active - and some case law, and remember New Mexico does not have stand your ground or the castle doctrine laws. Also, be aware of what happened in previous cases avoid those pitfalls in self-defense …And one other thing, you can never be 100 percent sure of how these rights are viewed…for example; The Constitution...is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary which they may twist and shape into any form they please." --Thomas Jefferson

And your point is?? Reality is they can do all this without breaking into your house - find the accessories somewhere else. Where did the offender get the knife from that he threatened the home owner with while breaking in??

I had someone try this same thing to my house in June. I came home from work in the middle of the day to my screen door sliced open. On the front door the bottom lock was broken and and footprints all over it from them trying to kick it in. The only thing that kept them from getting into my house were the two deadbolts. There were footprints all around my house that the police found. My wife and I dont answer the front door if people come to it. All our friends and family know to use the side. But if my wife or I was home when they started knocking then trying to kick in the door I guarantee you that they would have been facing a loaded gun if they had gotten in. I now have security doors on all my entrances and hate to leave the house for more than a day and have to hire friends to stay over to feel safe. Is that fair?

What dream world do you live in dude? You have seen way too many movies and believe everything you see on ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN. You think Michael Moore is a genius. Wake up. It takes a fraction of a second to defend yourself from a criminal. The mainstream media and Hollywood would like to convince you that guns are useless for self defense, but I assure you they are used more often for this purpose than you know. Think for yourself.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Scorpio

It will be easy to let things get on top of you today, especially if you're already feeling rather tired and listless. Do yourself a favor and keep away from anyone who often makes you feel a bit fed up or defensive, because they're the last person you want to be around at the moment. They'll make your spirits sink down to your ankles in a flash, and who needs that?
