If you also add the costs of the appeals processes and other monies which add up exponentially when you try to effect the death penalty, it is just as or more expensive. That's what California found out. It costs big either way.

Multiply it 50 Do you know how much Mississippi will have to pay for convicting the wrong person? You don't have the facts so who are you to judge. The GOD I serve will not let an innocent person sit there for too long...Keyon Pitman shouls be the one in jail either rotting or waiting to be executed

I actually went to school and graduated with Keyon Pittman and I just can't bring myself to believe that he would have intentionally caused Avis (his fiance) any harm such as killing her or aiding in the murder!! I didn't know his fiance or this Carla lady and I feel very sad for both families because they both have lost their daughters! It breaks my heart to know that someone could actually seek out a person and brutally murder them (especially when she is pregnant)....I'm sure that when Avis woke up that morning she had NO ideal that would be the last time; this just goes to show that if you don't have your business in order, you need to get it in order!! I have split feelings as far as the punishment that was given to Carla; Should she have been given the death penalty since this is what Avis received without choice or shouhld she sit in prison going from day to day thinking about the events and knowing that she will never be with her son again BUT, who am I??? GOD has the last say so in this situation or any other situation. Yes! she got Life in prison without any chance of parole and I'm sure it won't be a walk in the park at the tender age of 28 (keep in mind that she has a 5 year old son who didn't deserve to have his life turned upside down). She has to go everyday and think about the events that happened and if she is truly guilty, all I can say is Lord Bless her soul.... Futhermore, I will continue to pray for Avis' family and friends,Carla, her son, parents, etc. and yes Keyon Pittman and his family. GOD IS LOVE..........
