lets see, She killed someone, Driving drunk, not wearing a seat belt and she was released on only 50K bail?? Something is wrong here.. She will get a slap on the wrist, probably 30 days jail for this unfortunate incident. She is a MURDERER!!! Look kids, please don't drink and drive. This could happen to you! Have a nice day folks!

Look at the bright side Steve. Had this been our former mayor Eriquez he would have gotten a slap on the wrist and a ride home from the Danbury PD.

On the serious side, what a shame. Her life is ruined regardless of the punishment. Does anyone find it peculiar that a 29 yr old man was dating a 17 year old?

If a 29 year old is dating a 17 year old isn't it considered statutory rape?

No. Age of consent laws for both Maine & Connecticut is 16. For New York it is 17.
Just wondering

It will be interesting to see who bought the booze. If it was the 29 year old I think it changes things.

Just sad but the older one being "wiser" is the dumb one for trusting a drunk 17 year old with out a license to drive. This could have been prevented. I bet the girl's parents didn't even know about him. I hope he RIP but this girl's life is ruined because of him....I am sure he is the one that bought the booze too...If she does get off, I hope she learned her lesson.

it just said she smelled like alcohol. Also that the car had alcohol in it. It didn't say she blew past the limit nor did it say blood work confirmed she was past the limit. However, true shouldn't have been driving without a license and would be damned if my 17 yr was dating a 29YR old. She got a long road ahead of her. Kids think before you do dumb stuff. Especially dating such older men

I happened to be very close to the man who died in this crash. He was not wealthy, nor a pedophile for crying out loud. He has lived in Maine in recent years and they were here for a visit. I have never met her, and from what I know about him I'm sure he cared about her deeply, despite their age difference. It doesn't matter how old he was, or she is. Or what their reasons were for dating. The bottom line is, my friend is dead. He wasn't a perfect human being, but he was a good natured person with a good heart, and many friends. And I am deeply saddened that he isn't going to get to celebrate his 30th birthday. You call him too old to date a 17 year old, but he was certainly to young to die.

As I read these comments, I am literally brought to tears and sickened by the insulting comments of complete strangers who didn't even know him.

Does it even cross your mind that this young man who died has a family, younger siblings, and dozens of friends who will possibly stumble upon your harsh words and complete bullcr!ap?

This update turns the whole scenario into a joke. So someone from out of state can commit all these crimes - including MURDER - and get a whopping $50,000 bond? A disgrace. Disgusting. And a 17 year old girl dating a 29 year old man and traveling to another state to be with him? Poor white trash all the way. Hope they sentence her to life in prison, despite the ridiculous "YO" status.

As for the comments by "Ugh", so sorry. But from the sounds of it this was bound to happen sooner or later. These 2 certainly didn't seem to live one step above trailer park trash. We should all just be glad their stupid actions didn't kill anyone else.

wow, being so judgemental and critical of the dead seems much more like white trash to me.
Rather than criticize why doesn't everyone send thoughts and prayers to the family.
My wish to you, the family, is that you get through this difficult time. I know the pain, remember, the sun will rise tomorrow

The hill where this accident occurred is poorly marked and the posting of the speed limits is limited, it is way to windy and steep...close it down. I have seen one to many accidents in this area. It's a shame that poor man had to lose his life. I am hopeing the girl receives counseling and education and given a second chance in life. Man slaughter was not in her plan that night.Poor choices were. But what was a 29 year old man driving with an intoxicated 17 year old??? May he rest in peace.

Manslaughter is poor choices. Manslaughter is not setting out to harm or kill anyone. However, when you choose to do stupid things and something bad happens from it then yes it is manslaughter!!

He was the adult in this situation and he allowed a 17 year old to drive. If they were together so long, he had to be aware of her driving status. This is not murder. This is plain and simple stupidity that cost him his life (and possibly hers.) So sad for all.
