LA-area quakes continuation of 1933 rumblers

A magnitude 5.2 quake shook the Owens Lake area Thursday evening, part of a recent chain of hundreds of quakes that began rattling that area early that morning, when the first quake struck, a magnitude 5.0 shaker.

So this coincidental increase in quake activity has nothing to do with the recent magnitude 8+ quake that occurred in Samoa (the opposite end of the Pacific tectonic plate) at exactly the same time the increase began? So much for science.
