I had a vivint sales man come to my door about a week ago. He was very polite and knew the product very well, after about 20 minuets of talking outside I was interested in the system so I invited him inside for a bottle of water. Being new to a big city I have made my own precautions buying two glocks a .40 caliber for my wife and a .45 for myself. But I work shift work so I thought maybe some added security would be nice at night when I am not here. After talking for some time I wanted this system but It was going to cost around 70 dollars a month for the full package which was out of my budget. The salesman waved all other fees including the installation but signing a 3 year non-negotiable contract really made me nervous. So I passed on the product, but even after telling him no he still continued to be professional and left me his info incase I ever changed my mine. I have read many negative reviews on this company but like many people have said you can find anything negative on any company via the Internet

If people are this paranoyed with young guys at the door than you are proving that you need a system!! I got mine from a door to door guy and I love it! I control my system from my phone!(even my camera) All of you who are worried just read the contract...but in all honesty the door to door guys give you the best deal. My whole system was free! I just pay my monitoring and I did have to pay to activate it, but that was the best money I ever spent. At least I know my wife and kids are safe when I'm not there. THANKS VIVINT.

A salesboy came to our gated community this weekend. He ignored the "no solicitation" signs and tried to lie to me and most of my neighbors. He was arrogant. Told me my neighbors' homes had been broken into. That was the first lie. Then he tried to pose as a representative of the company that does management in our neighborhood. Lie two. I left the door thinking my husband would get rid of the salesboy, Brad Barrowes. Then the salesboy stepped into my home uninvited. There was confusion about why anyone would step into a home uninvited. He made a beeline for the sliding glass door. I was thinking as he stood in my bedroom door waving hello at me,(a sarcastic gesture) that I should grab the baseball bat and start swinging. He did leave when my husband told him to. Other neighbors said he would not leave. Cannot believe the strongarm arrogant sales tactics of Vivint salesboys. One of them is going to be injured with this behavior.

I just had a Vivint sales rep come to my home. That is why I am looking all this stuff up. 1. He looked about 16 2. He kept asking me why we have a security system (we have ADT) 3. He asked me if I live alone 4. He asked me if I go out of town often 5. He asked if we could talk inside, luckily I have dogs inside.
I don't think these are questions he should be asking. I did not give him the answers. I just told him my husband and I are not interested at this time and if we do become interested we will call for a meeting with a sales rep.
He then turned around said "have a great day" and continued walking down the road.
I seriously felt scared. My neighbors were not home and my husband was out of town. But like I said, I do have 3 big dogs in the house with me whom are very protective.
As for our current provider, ADT, they are not too great themselves. Our alarm has gone off twice due to someone trying to get in and the cops never showed. We had to call them ourselves. Needless to say, we are switching to a better rated and researched company. Thank you for reading and thanks for all your input.
<q uoted text> Well maybe I'm just old school. But I'm a firefighter. And I've seen what ADT can do. I trust them 100 percent. We made it to many houses that had ADT. their claim to fame that no lives have been lost in a house fire couldn't be more true.
This is probably true for the houses that are given a smoke alarm in the adt package. But paying customers are not offered a smoke detector in the 'paid-for' system. Adt gives a 5 point system... That is 3 doors and a motion and then come the upgrades. For the same price Vivint gives out 9 points... This is usually smoke and carbon monoxide. If you wanted that from adt you are looking at $120 for each device. Vivint is an amazing company.. The word scam doesn't make any sense as they are not cheating anyone into anything. Vivint really is an amazing company and they have an amazing business model. The entire system (comparable to adt's pulse) is paid for (compared to adt's $1600 pulse system not being paid for).
They have cleaner business than any dealer program for adt or monotronics.. I would know as I used to work for adt, monotronics, and pinnacle (Devon). Their system to-date is more advanced than any other system, and in the future the system will update to the newest, baddest, security/home automation program on the market. Good luck to any competitor trying to stop this vivint freight train as it slams into the feeble competitor shrapnel in its path.

Had APX / Vivint for many years now. ONLY difficult thing is if you want to cancel service (very difficult to do). Other than that they were very professional at door, install people very knowledeable. So many on here want to trash this company (most who haven't had the system at all). To those people I ask: do you have life insurance? Do you have car insurance? Do you have a bank account? All these things provide security in some sense, and all have a monthly fee associated with them. If you'd like we could start a discussion about which bank is safest for your money...and guess what...you'll get a hundred thousand different opinions. Does this mean that one is better than the other, or that they are ALL good and it's a matter of personal choice.

adt dealer wrote: Oh by the way, ADT does offer a few things That a lot of other companies don't have. Now I can't speak for the guys in orange but we do have carbon monoxide detectors, flood detectors, strobe lights for deaf hard of hearing (plus when used outside it makes it even easier for the emergency services to find your house), exterior sirens to alert the neighborhood of an emergency in your residence. The list goes on and on. Plus the poster from earlier stated they only use cell services. Well what do you do in a low service area? Oh but ADT has that one covered too. You know those outdated things you talked of? They have been around for a while because THEY WORK. ADT SUCKS JUST AS BAD AS VIVINT YOU MORON! READERS DON'T BE STUPID AND GO WITH A DIY COMPANY LIKE FRONT POINT, LIFESHIELD OR PROTECT AMERICA AND ACTUALLY GET SOMETHING FOR YOUR MONEY. ADT IS THE BIGGEST LIAR AND SCAMMER OF THEM ALL.

ADT SUCKS

I looked into Vivint before deciding to go to Life Shield and to be honest they never contacted me until about year and a half later. The salesman who called offered me a complete system for free which included 3 motions, 10 open close sensors, 2 smokes, flood, 2 control panels, 2 key chains and 2 thermostats all for free for $60 a month and a 42 month commitment. This is a pretty sweet deal if it was ADT they would charge me close to $3000 to install. I know Apex has a bad history but I have heard both good and bad things about Vivint the same as with ADT but I have had horrible experience with ADT.
I have Life Shield now and they have been great, I have never been told no by any Life Shield rep if something fails its in the mail and replaced. I had a bad sensor that went through batteries about every 6 months and Life Shield sent me out replacement batteries for all of my sensors. I test my system from time to time and it never fails.
To all you ADT fans answer me this, why do they require a 3 year commitment if you have to pay full price for the system? They offer a $99 essential plus system that is actually piece of crap I wouldn't ADT put in my house if they paid me, you can pull the control panel off the wall and smash it and the system's disarmed. The ADT salesman (not a dealer) told me to hide it in my kitchen closet. The guy told me if I was smart I'd by a customized system that would protect my family,$1500 later I'm asking him to leave. Why offer a crap alarm if you claim to be a quality company, its because its a gimmick to get the salesmen in the door. ADT sucks and I can't say that enough.

Lots of problems with the extras, can't connect most of the time to change the temperature on the thermostats with my phone. The system has been reset multiple times with 3 site visits. Still not working right. On one of my calls I was told they are a Alarm company not a accessory company. My camera is down, the thermostats don't work correctly & the tutomated light switches have never worked. If is all very frustrating as more phone calls will not produce results. Wish I would have never signed a contract with them. Lastly I am suppose to be able to interface with the alarm, thru my phone to lock & unlock the doors , this does not work either.

Vivint was APEX. APEX was sued by multiple state Attorney General's offices for bait and switch & false advertisement. APEX lost. They are well known for mysteriously stopping your auto-draft for no reason then months later telling you per the contract its your obligation to ensure auto-draft is working and now you have to pay them the entire rest of the contract. Even though it was not your fault the auto-draft stopped, it was there system that did it. Be ware, all they did was change there name and adapt a new technology. There are plenty of other companies doing the same thing that are big names like ADT, Comcast, etc... which ahve well established methods and don;t pull these unethical practices,

He also commented on a neighbors tv in his house and was asked to leave his front door step. This guy is a sneaky snake we are all watching out

Maybe you should get your facts straight before you just start blowing up the internet saying its a scam. People trying to offer to protect families with newer better technology sounds pretty good to me. Come out of your hybernation or rather your ignorant close minded attitude and hear them out. We love our VIVINT system!

Seriously guys, what's with bashing a company you clearly know nothing about? It doesn't get you anywhere, and lying sure as heck never will. Now let's set the record straight. We don't claim to give a system away for free...yes I'm currently an employee for Vivint. You get the system installed for a $198 activation fee, and depending on if you have the basic package, Home Automation, Energy Management, or all both depends on your monthly rate. Those go from $49.99-$68.99. I'm sorry, but NOTHING is free. Yes you sign an agreement with Vivint, as with any other security company out there. Once your agreement/term is up, you can choose to continue having us monitor for the same monthly fee, or simply cancel. Cancelling during the agreement is possible, though you do have pay off the remainder of the agreement..which is only fair. ADT does the same thing, yet charges tons more and responds 10 times slower...7 sec avg for Viving as compared to 60 sec for ADT. Vivint is hands down the best security system out there, and are in the business of saving lives not scamming people.

Total scam to lock you in to a contract. I never Signed a contract did pay 49.99 for consultation and would cover first month of install if I decided to go forward. I explained I was still shopping around. I did my research and found nothing but awful reviews and ratings. Called the next morn and cancelled consultation. And was told my card would be refunded the 49.99 which I was assured was absolutely 100% refundable if I did not have product installed. did NOT happen. This company is shadier than the people you want the alarm for. DO NOT DO IT!! Get a real company to secure your home not these clowns that's for sure. So glad I didn't sign ANYTHING. Will dispute charge with my cc company.
