Ok M Ross. Just because you "own" a company doesn't mean you know how to run it properly.

What I do "understand" Ross, is that I have actually rented from this SLUMLORD. As a man who owns and operates his own successful small business, I can certainly assure you that this man is not a professional.

it was on the news this mroing a mother in ar who had kill her three kids . they are taking the three babby back to new york too lady to rest my pary are with the father who lost his chrilden ;

I agree completely with all of the above statements. I live in one of the smaller buildings Rentclifton owns. I have had numerous problems since moving in five months ago.
1. Did not receive a lease for over two months, after being told several times it was in the mail, or it would be brought over tomorrow.
2. Several maintainence issues ignored, or temporarily fixed, to break again.
3. Landlord enters property without advanced notice.
4. Landlord is not reachable.
5. Outside electricity turned off and blamed on the failure of another tenant to pay their rent.
6. Monthly overdue notices are sent to our house for utilities unpaid by the company.
7. When expressing concern that I might be using another tenant's electricity I was told "They don't need to know that."
Although I am a reasonable and responsible tenant with basic complaints, I have been ignored and patronized by management. Any request I have ever made has not been addressed until I am forced to harass someone for days or weeks on end to have someone even address the issue.
Usually any conversation with management yields no solution and is plaugued with excuses that "Our company runs 160 some properties".
This is a money making scheme, and once you sign a lease you are on your own. Do not rent from these people.

Rentclifton.com has been a great landlord for the past 11 months I have lived in their apartment. I had a water leak and they came within minutes of me filing a report online. Their apartments our some of the nicest I have been in! They seem to be continually fixing up their properties. I plan on staying here until finishing college as I love the proximity to UC.

It's SO obvious the people who wrote about how great RentClifton is work there.

They're shit, and they DO NOT respond to requests.

That's exactly right. Look at all the exclamation points in that second positive post. Then do a little digging in the Painter Development Groups literature where they describe properties they have for sale. It's way more than coincidence that even the punctuation is the same.
I worked briefly for that outfit and quit after they bounced a PAYROLL check! I just had the gut feeling that the other shoe was eventually gonna drop with these guys. I wouldn't be all that surprised to see the whole operation eventually fall like a stack of cards when some real fraud turns up.

I have had problems with rent clifton.com ever since I moved in and advice others to NOT move in to any of their apartments!! I am a good tenant who always pay my rent before it's even due!! I am a student but have to work two jobs because of how many times they have raised my rent. I have done my own renovation to the apartment because I’m sick of hearing that they will and never do... They have young kids working for them and they don’t know how to do their jobs... I have had my utilities turned off multiple times while living here even though it is supposed to be included. Also I had a horrible gas leak in my apartment for almost a year and had to call duke energy because the landlord ignored my phone calls. I was told that my building would be exterminated for bugs and rodents every few months and I have never once seen the exterminator... these people very nice but very unprofessional and although some people may have very good luck with rent clifton.com , I did not have ANY and advice you to consider my experience while looking into their apartments. I have no problem with the people I think they are very nice people but even good people can do wrong things!! God bless!!!

I have rented from Painter for a year and I honestly never had a problem with the property or delayed responses.
They were even lenient a few times when I couldn't pay my rent on time.

I love my apartment! That is...

-If I look past the fact that they left ladders standing right by my roommate's window for almost 3 months (plus my balcony door doesn't lock - just asking for a break in...)
-If I don't mind going for weeks without heat - 1 week in December/3 weeks in March/April (one of the office girls bought me a space heater because she felt so horrible, but I'm sure she was the ONLY one who did feel that way)
-If I don't mind my mail getting soaked because my mailbox is rusted the lid fell off (still waiting for a new one btw)
-If I don't mind a people who are nice to your face but completely forget about you/disrespect you behind your back (tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign the lease, then the disappointment begins)
-If I don't mind the smell of dog poop in my yard (or stepping on it when I'm walking on the path at night)

I was promised that stuff would be fixed *before* I moved in (almost a month in advanced), but nothing was done. They were small things, so I overlooked them, but the intent is still the same (as long as they get their rent, they don't care). As far as you "happy" tenants, my guess is that you live in one of their uber-expensive buildings. I can only imagine that they would want to take *real* good care of you there - since you are their cash cows.

COMPARED TO OTHER LANDLORDS IN CLIFTON I WOULD GIVE THEM AN A+. SURE, SOME TENANTS FEEL THAT IF THEY HAVE A ISSUE, MAINTENANCE OR OTHERWISE IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEADIATLY, BUT WITH 100'S OF RENTERS COMMON SENSE SHOULD TELL YOU THATS NOT POSSIBLE. I CHALLENGE ANY OF THESE "SO CALLED TENANTS AND FORMER EMPLOYEES" TO PUT UP OR SHUT THE F%CK UP. I WILL PERSONALLY PAY OUT OF MY OWN POCKET FOR THESE ASSHOLES TO TAKE A LIE-DETECTOR TEST "WITH MEDIA PRESENT" FOR VERIFICATION. AND FURTHER MORE NOBODY FROM MASON HAS EVER WORKED THERE. What I find comical about this thread, of (20) count them 20 posts, there's only (2) authors listed in search results for Mitch Painter!

1- I suppose is the disgruntled tenant the second could only be somebody putting positive comments about Mitch Painter. The most remarkable thing was the original poster's reference to a 'shame on you' style news report, that when clicked links not to a related story...but the main news site...what does that say?

I'd like to see someone...anyone who brought legal proceedings against him with these allegations and won/lost whatever...give this thing some teeth, or is this dog doomed to canned dog food for the rest of it's life?!
