Why do you assume there was no racial component? There is always a racial component. You as a female (if you really are) should realize this but your total inability to see the world and reality for what it is implies you have no real grasp on how people think and how minorities in a majority situation in the US do and feel they can get away with.
How could you rape for hours, beat repeatedly (why beat a defeated and outnumbered rape victim over and over if not being hateful)and ROB her... that part says so much... they took her jewelry and effects... wow. And it not be a hate crime?

To ME - it is THE issue. Do you undertsand what I am trying to say here? IT is a much bigger issue than race: at least half the population of his planet (just a guess) are female. WE are the victims of SEXUAL ASSAULT EVERY TWO MINUTES - and that's just in the U.S. This is why I keep beating the same drum. Until MEN, ALL MEN learn not to objectify women, none of us is safe.
The long-term effect of rape on a woman are vast: social, emotional, psychiatric, physical. She may never have a normal relationship with a man after this. May never trust again. May evn kill herself form the shame and nightmares. THis is why it is THE issue for ME.
Believe me, I have seen & experienced & felt racism. I am white and lived in Spanish_harlem in the late 80s. I was not raped or assaulted there. But I was wary - knowing I was the minority and how some peple act out against minorities. I am NOT saying that race did not play a part; however RAPE is a far more serious and urgent issue that stains our so-called civilized society.
So, in a way, we are both correct: I say these guys raped this girl because they feel powerless and want to exert their power as men and humiliate one who they perceive as representative of the hated opressor - one who has or is priveliged in ways that they are not. YOu say it is because of race. So on some level you may be correct too...we just have differnt opinion as to what the important issue is. From your name, I am guesing you are a man (corect me if I am wrong). Enough said.
P.S. you are being rude/mean to me for no good reason than we disagree. Have you NEVER had a debate with a femenist before? Are these ideas new to you? No need to get mean. I DO know what I am talking about (not sad) when it comes to rape (from personal experience and from courses in psych & sociology & criminal justice), and you may know what you are talking about when it comes to race issues, but I will say it again RAPE is 1st issue here. Race is 2nd - IMHO. If you respond, please try to be nice. Thanks.
