Tina R. Vernor, 28, had an adjourned initial court appearance Sept. 25 on misdemeanor counts of misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct and possession of THC. Advertisement According to the criminal complaint, Donna Miller of Cameron called 911 Sept. 18 and said that her daughter-Vernor-was at Miller's Soo Avenue residence and was trying to take Vernor's children from the home. Miller said she had custody and power of attorney over the children and wouldn't release them to her daughter because she was delusional. Cameron police chief Terry Skaar reported that Vernor refused to leave the residence when he arrived on the scene, and she began swearing loudly at her mother. Vernor was then arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to jail. On the way to jail, Skaar reported that the subject stated that God has come to her, he is in the body of "Guinn," that "Guinn" has made her a savior and she will be sacrificed, so the people in hell can have a second chance. The next day, officers were again called out to the Miller residence after Miller reported that she had gotten into an argument with her daughter where Vernor attacked her. Vernor was subsequently arrested, and marijuana was allegedly found in her pants pocket. Judge Tim Doyle ordered a competency evaluation in the case Sept. 20 and Vernor's signature bond was set at $500. Later that day, a bartender at Big Smitty's in Rice Lake asked officers to remove a disorderly patron. Vernor was removed from the bar at 8:42 p.m. Then on Sunday, a woman called dispatchers and said that Vernor had burst into their church sermon that morning, went up to the front and was talking about Wal-Mart and freedom and not making any sense. Officers located Vernor's vehicle and took her into custody at noon. After being transported to the police department, the subject was taken to a mental health facility in Ashland. Some Rice Lake officers assisted on the transport to the Ashland hospital because Vernor became very uncooperative, according to dispatch records. ©Barron News Shield 2009 |
