These group homes are popping up in many places without the knowledge of the neighborhood residents. There are two on my block. If there are no local laws, respectively, they should be passed. All group homes should be permitted as to type, sponsoring individual or group, and number of residents.

The person killed could have just as easily been a neighbor or neighbors child. The deception by the property owner is intolerable. Neighbors should be made aware if this is to be located in their neighborhood, not deceptively lied to about it.

Chava Barrasa was a good young man. Despite his mental illness he completed Barber college and was good at it. He was always well groomed and Always tried to do the right thing. He was focused and continued to educate himself, always striving to do good. He was someone you would love to have as your neighbor. He will be greatly missed and remembered as someone who Always tried Hard. I know he is an Angel.

"Chava Barrasa was a good young man."

Right up until he kills someone.
For the second time.

With the housing maket the way it is and cities not being proactive by establishing municipal codes that forbid this, you're about to see a lot of people buying houses cheap and running them as halfway house and clown houses.

The States pays good moey for these services...

Halfway houses have to be in somebody's neighborhood but the neighbors should be advised and not lied to.The newspaper could have been more helpful in capturing this mentally ill person if their picture would have been inserted with this article. All you Ronald Reagn fans should be thrilled to know that we do not have enough mental health hospitals for these types of mentally ill people due to the patients rights laws that went too far.It was never about the mentally ill's rights but it was alwyas about the money. That is wy they now end up in unsupervised halfway houses and convelescent homes.

I doubt that there are 2 in Chino Hills in one neighbrhood.Be an advocate for mental hospital s being built and this would be a moot problem.

That Robinson guy also has a murder charge not just a reckless driving, as stated in the article. And to put these types on a street under the guise of "college students?" Insane.

How quick we are to judge when we live in a perfect family where no one makes mistakes. 2002 Im not going to sit here and explain the charges but if you're in Law Enforcement you know that the charges arent always an indicator of the real story. He had the strong support of family and friends. I wrote about Chava because I am grieving for someone who was worth it. He overcame alot despite his many obstacles. I understand people dont want these homes in their community but he truly was a Success story, just thought people would want to know.

the program that these guys were in has been supervising these individuals for 25 years without an incident like this. many individuals who have been released from the state hospital are now leading productive lives, working, going to school, taking their meds. the person next to you in line at the grocery store could be one of them. this program takes its responsibility to protect the community very seriously. i am very sad for chava, and javier. their lives have been such as we can not imagine, being afflicted with mental illness. please be kind to the program. they have been working for you quietly for many years.

To Everyone:
I wanted to get on here and get one thing straight, people really need to respect Chava as a person regardless of his past. He has now been TAKEN from us and you really need to stop bashing him, at least for his family and friends sake. They are hurting and need to grieve. The fact that people are trying to make him look bad and putting his past on there is wrong; everyone has a past and we are not the ones to judge him. However, it's kind of funny how most of these comments have not even mentioned Mr.Robinson who is the one who took Chava's life, and some are sitting here putting Chava (the victim) down. Take a moment and think about what we are doing: hurting the family, supporting the family, or destroying a community? what action are you trying to take? It takes a community to stick together and make it a loving environment, and by badgering him (Chava) you are destroying what people are trying to build.

whoever you are...it is true. you ARE very quick to judge a man you dont know. you are just looking at a past. if you knew the man you would know how kind he truly was and how much he was trying to do good. but you are NO one to judge. no one in this world is perfect thats a fact and neither are you. and no matter what his past was.. NO one deserves to die the way he did. you shouldnt judge and be so rude and insensitive and especially towards someone who is now deceased and cant speak for himself. when you die i'm sure you would not want anyone to remember your past mistakes. and i now hope whoever knows you does. he was heading in the right direction and thats what counts. so shut your mouth and dont point fingers at anyone.

It is very true and very sad that people are very quick to judge a man they have never met. What should count here is that Chava was turning his life around. I met Chava a couple of months ago. He came over to meet my grandson, his great nephew. He was very happy to have met his great nephew. And I am happy that he got to meet his great nephew. I think some of the people who have posted negative comments about Chava are forgetting about how he lost his life. He was taken from his loved ones in a way that no one should be taken. What happened to him was a horrible thing. I cant change or control what people say or write about him, I can only speak for myself. Chava showed me and my family alot of respect in our home. He was a very pleasant young man. To his mother, his family and friends, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. My family and I will keep all of you in our prayers.

i had the pleasure of knowing chava since he has turned his life around. he was a bright, dedicated young man. i and all those who were close to him miss him terribly, and are in shock of this tragedy. its unfortunate to see this negativity from so many who clearly dont know all the facts. but i wont allow this to pepper his memory. he came to a place of peace in his life, and he left this world that way.
