Now maybe the people who were intent on destroying the communities within the SWCS will go us all a favor and leave. Their kind is a obstacle to a healthy and vibrant community. Guess Terry Jones will have fewer dollars now to buy beer and beef jerky.

What mortgage company is holding Mr. Jones house? It would be a great time to call them and pepper them with requests to speed the proceedings along on his foreclosure. Get that guy outta here while the time is right. Anyone else who doesn't support the schools can feel free to vacate too. You and your lack of dollars will be missed.

The Southwestern School levy is a travesty. There must be a better way to determine school taxes rather than to impose more on those who own property, but don't have children. Why should I pay additionally for someone elses children? I already pay more than my fair share by virtue of my personal household income. Personally, I don't care if the kids get to play extracurricular sports. That's not what they are in school for. If their parents want their children in these activities, let them pay for it.

In addition, I'm tired of the default mechanism of any local government being a new taxes or levy. What do we get in return? Nothing.... In fact, our Columbus City taxes was increased by .5 percent, but cut services were never restored. Why is it that we don't insist on a level of responsibility and transparencey from those politicians having fidcuiary responsibility over our paid taxes? These people falsely represent us and refuse to clean their own houses of the poor business practices they have created. Please keep in mind that while more taxes seems the politicians answer to everything, we have not heard about any sacrifices being made from the officials at the South Western School Board. We have not heard anyone talk about cutting the retirement benefits for teachers, reducing staff, imposing pay for play, optimizing existing building instead of trying to keep up with their more affluent neighbors in Dublin, or take a hard look at each and every business practice regardless of how inconvenient it is. Wake up people, the administrators and utopian parents of the Southwest District are dilisuional. Throwing resources at any problem without fixing the problem only adds to the overall cost of the problem.

You have to be mentally retarded to actually support the lies of this levy. Way to go yes voters...nothing changes now. Are you still going to ask this administration to make concessions? Probably not now that the cry babies have gotten their way. This is permanent, so next time you vote for another levy in 2 years...remember that. It never occurred to me how stupid half of this district is for supporting something like this.

Now the board knows they can bully us into getting their pay raises! 4.5% guaranteed for the next 5 years --- congrats to them --- no need to negotiate their contracts in June.

I can't believe that this school district has been allowed to put this up for vote so many times using our kids crying on TV as their way of getting the majority to "feel bad" and vote "for the kids". This wasn't a vote for the the kids and anyone who actually researched the district's spending would see right through that claim. We are sooo underfunded compared to Franklin County schools??? Well look at the schools outside this county, in rural areas who provide the same education (in some cases better) while bussing kids from twice as far around and still find a way to have sports, prom and other extra cirriculars with the same or less funding. Maybe the spoiled mindset of this district would change if they knew what it is like for other areas. I love my kids too but this wasn't for them, they still pay to play and we all pay for salary raises!

To all the parents at Southwestern...good job, you managed to have others pay for your kids activities...the good old un-american way. To all the other people that voted YES because "it is for the kids" and "my property values will go down", I have some beachfront property to sell to you in Oklahoma. How can you be so stupid? To Bill Wise and his people, good, enjoy your money and continue to run inefficient schools. Come back in a year for another levy...there are enough idiots you can convince with your "I know you are financially strapped but if you love me you will buy me a car" strategy. To those who voted NO, kudos...and yes, I know, the system is ridiculous. A system where you can come back every three to six months with the same levy, over and over again, until it passes.

I have no kids in the SWCS system. But I'm human and it's smarter to give kids a chance, because I care about kids. I voted yes, and yes my mortgage will go up, but it's more about these kids than it is me.

This levy is one step. Many bigger steps need to be taken at the state level to fix school funding in Ohio and stop the need to put these levies on the ballot all the time. None of us like them and I can tell you from having worked on these past two, it's emotionally and physically exhausting. No one wants more taxes and property taxes aren't the best or fairest way to fix the problem, nor are drastic cuts that impact the quality of education. Citizens for SWCS will not stop working for our kids and we'll be happy to work with anyone who wants to help us, and help other advocacy groups, get this fixed so that we avoid splintered communities, neighborhood infighting and other issue that impact our quality of life. Thank you, residents of SWCS, for standing up for our children. You won't regret it. There are two newly elected school board members - we need to hold them and others accountable to continuing to move the district forward. Let the finger pointing stop and the healing begin.

The levy passing was needed to sustain the community not just the schools as viable.
Now all the energy used to oppose it and support it needs to form one big voice to get the State of Ohio to come up with a better way to fund schools
rather then levies and property taxes.
Please don't say "fix" because there is no fix since some tax in some direction will be raised be it income or sales or both.

Amen. I am all for the support of schools, however, the definition of "Insanity" comes to mind: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Way to go Voters!

Your use of the term mental retardation makes you look very, very uneducated. I don't see the relevance between a mentally challenged person and if they are capable of understanding a vote. I mean, if they went and voted, then obviously they took some time to read and make an educated decision.

Fact of the matter, people can just be plain dumb, which I think is a better term.

I think it is super funny how all of a sudden they can reinstate buses and extra curriculars. Correct me if I am wrong, but they can't collect on this levy until 2010 right? So who pulled this money out of their @$$ to reinstate things?

Once again, this just shows that the district grabbed everyones b@lls with sports and extra curriculars to get monies.

I laff at you all :)(p.s. don't tell me learn to spell, laff is an internet slang term)

It is as it should be. The levy passes and the opponents got a supporter on the board. The board is closer to balance now. Ms. Myers, good luck to you. PLEASE be open minded and truthful about what you see. Your job now is to supply fresh ideas and a new set of eyes on the board.
Thanks to the voters for restoring a bit of community to a troubled school district.

Hey Laura...where are you this morning??? I have been waiting all night to hear what you have to say. Oh wait...is Laura really Terry? I am organizing a rally in front of his house this weekend "thanking" him for all of his support. Maybe now he can move to the Columbus City Schools district and start a movement there. Once a failure in life Terry...always a failure. You dropped out of school, stop blaming the system and look at yourself.
