Thank you for desiring an apples to apples comparison! I hope voters take the salary issue into consideration- Reynoldsburg teachers make substantially less than I do as a Columbus City teacher, and pay much more for their benefits package, which covers much less... In short, they are providing our students with a high quality education for a bargain price already. They should not be made villains in a levy request, which I support.

In response to the Dispatch Candidates questionnaire, Ms. Tornero says "The average salary for a teacher in Reynoldsburg is over $50,000. This figure is in line with the average salary for a teacher in Ohio, but higher than the income of the average Reynoldsburg worker."
Why should the salary of a Reynoldsburg teacher be comparable to that of the average Reynoldsburg worker? The average Reynoldsburg teacher has a post-graduate degree, while the average Reynoldsburg worker has only a high school education. There should be a difference in their salaries!
It is disrespectful to teachers to imply that their profession is not deserving of a professional salary.
The only valid comparison of salaries would be between teacher salaries, and the salaries of other professionals with post-graduate degrees.
I am a senior citizen and my children are long past their school days, but I always taught them that education was the key to getting anywhere in this life. I believed, and still believe, that education is the key to success and a better life. If you believe this, then I think you will agree that our well-educated, professional teachers deserve to be fairly compensated for their skills - and not condemned to poverty because they work in Reynoldsburg.

The fact that a woman who home schooled all her children is running for the school board is laughable. That like a Democrat running to the the chair of the republical party, or vice versa.

The fact is the only people who will vote against this levy are people who don't want a slight increase in there taxes because they plan to die in there homes. How can we expect to educate our kids properly with the same funds that we operated with in 1997?

You silly goose, we are not operating on the same funds in place in 1997....remember the land of milk and honey when those who had jobs received pay increases...those increases were reflected in the monies collected from the 1/2 % income tax the schools collect. Let's not forget the time when our property values were increasing, allowing the monies collected for the millage rates in place since 1997 to increase as well. Your thinking reminds me of the letter I received from the most recent levy committee explaining to me that I would make money if I voted for the levy. Nice try, but I am not on the school board or a teacher and do not subscribe to their funny math!

I saw the You Tube video. Mr. Casey is very lucky Mr. Swope showed restraint, knowing Casey wanted to trap him in an uncomprimising situartion. He should have had his face smashed in for intimidating Mr.Swope's wife and invading his space. What a small man Mr. Casey is.

Why don't we take a closer look at the top administrators. Dackin is making rounds at all the schools bashing our new board member. Who is he. No PhD degree and started out making more than his predecessor Dr. Ross ($149,000). This doesn't include the car allowance, the $10,000 refund because he isn't accepting insurance because his wife, Rey. teacher, is paying his insurance. Dan Hoffman who agreed to come if he didn't have to do personnel so they hire a totally incompedent HR director being paid $87,000 with NO experience. He brings with him STEM but then proceeds to get rid of the half the technology team. Does Rey. Schools need a PR person, Trisha Moore? Just another example why Reyn. administrators just keep spending and the ones who directly touch the lives of our children are stretched so thin they don't have time to breathe. Top administrators all have spouses who work in the district which from time to time create major conflict of interest: Steve Dackin's wife, Chip Martin's wife, Jim Slonaker's wife, Dan Hoffman's wife. For those of you who want to critize the "greedy" teachers for wanting to put food on their families tables, why don't you take a look at the more "greedy" administrators that have driven this district into the ground with their selfish agendas. Its time to stand up and demand new leadership.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Aquarius

You will not be satisfied in your work place, but give it some time and things will fall into place. Those in the construction business should get some good news. Aquarian homebodies will find things rather hectic and may develop a headache by the end of the day, so you should avoid negative thinking as much as possible.
