South-Western levy opponent a likely winner

If you won't bring your students back to the district...why run?

With the GC board, they should wipe the slate clean and start over. All losers. Mismanagement all the way.

Can't wait to move to a new district.

I can't believe that this levy passed and that people in the district fell for the "crying kids" routine that the district used. This levy will change nothing within the district. The same dictator is still going to run the board and the only thing that will change is the increase in there pay. I just wonder when will be asked to vote on another levy, next november probably. I just can't beleive that people were fooled this easily by the "crying kids" and I can't wait to get out of this awful area.

Get behind JoEllen and help clean up this incompetent board. It is your tax dollars being abused. When board members cannot tell you how many assistant principals are in the system, how can they manage the budget.

I should have pulled my kids long ago. Sorry I did not.

But we gotta pass this so the poor suffering kids will be well prepared for the real world by offering plenty of babysitting activities like football....remember if the kids don't have football, then the terrorist win.

I am 32 years old, married, a homeowner, a father of two and even unemployed due to lack of work, and I still voted for this thing. I don't fall for scare tactics, don't enjoy paying more taxes, can be heard by my vote just like everyone else.... The people have voted, period. Now figure out why you can't afford your taxes and do something about it, make a sacrifice... I bet you complainers had busses, sports, afterschool activities, why shouldn't kids today? Because its a tough economic time? Buck up and give back what your supposed to, "equal opportunities to the students".

Giving more money to an incompetent school board and administrators without demanding an audit is NOT a smart way to give back to the community.

I have already made sacrafices! My home should not be next.

How can Cathy Johnson get re-elected. Voters are not very bright. Not only is she incompetent, she is one the main problems on this board. WOW.

From what I heard, SWCS flat refused to consider Pay to Play the last time the levy was defeated, however, I heard that with the slightly reduced rate on this levy, that even if it passes, the kids will have to Pay to Play sports now. So why did the Board refuse to allow Pay to Play 3 months ago when they could have saved sports, but will REQUIRE it now after the levy passes? Maybe it wasn`t so much about the students after all. Didn`t they pass a huge increase a few years ago, and then announce they would be back for the 2nd half the next time around? It`s for the kids people!!

Exactly! They only did the pay to play option this time to sway a few more votes. Of course they also changed it from a temporary to a permanent tax.

Do you think other businesses adjust their prices/compensation based on the average income of their customers? Does Giant Eagle pay people higher wages in Dublin and lower ones in Grove City? Hardly. MEEK2 - What evidence do yo have that SWCS mismanages money? What specific examples do you have? What suggestions do you have? Have you been to a board meeting or called to speak with the treasurer or Superintendent? Your unemployed hater monger friend Terry Jones is not a factual source.

You believe that every district that asks for money is corrupt and wasteful - and so then every school employee in the county deserves your hate now? The state dictates how schools are funded MEEK2 - Doyeeee!. SWCS passed 1 levy in 13 attempts before this one. Millions were cut every time it failed - then your kind is mad that sports and buses were eventually cut.
