I have been a lifelong resident of the town of Repton,AL.It has never looked as bad as it has since Terri Carter became mayor.Case in point,wastes of money to roof an old cotton gin that will never be used,being stupid enough to put speed bumps down in several locations,knowing full well drivers would complain about them(and theywere put down wrong besides),spending money on stupid celebrations and parties,like anyone much would want to go to a Dodge City get together,so much in bad taste.
Terri Carter isnt cut out to be a mayor.We really shouldn't have a mayor in a small town like this.It is just laughable to all other communties around us.There is no saving this town,heck no saving any small town around here.The only difference is-they have money in accounts to run their towns,Repton doesn't.How could she posiibly be bright when she had to go to a local bank and borrow money to keep this town going?No policeman will come here because the pay is next to nothing,and no one will deal with Terri Carter.Most of our citizens are dissappointed in her performance as mayor.She needs to step down,if no one else wants the job,close the town down,or unicorporate it.The heyday of what was Repton is gone,there is no fixing it.Just drive through here and see the dilapidated old buildings and the bad shape the town is in and you'll agree,either a new mayor,or new ways of looking athe it----just keep the town clean and the ditches cleaned out,all the rest can be let go,including our so called mayor lady......

Sounds like someone has it in for the mayor. Did you run and not get it?

Heck no,me or no one else here wants that job,just so sad to see the shape this town has gotten in since she became mayor.No funds in accounts to keep this town going,cant help but feel if the state or even county ran it,things would improve.When all that matters to her is the next party or get together,and b=not the best interest of the citizens,it's time to say adios and let someone else see what they can do,if someone would step in and take over.....

The sad thing about small town America is that people are losing their jobs, dont have the money and some folks just dont care. Once it starts to go, it is hard to bring it back unless everyone in town wants it.

Did not know you were from Monroeville---so you know how small Repton is.You're righht---most all of the smaller towns,including Repton,Monroeville,and such are dying out due to WalMart and others who have taken over.There is nothing to save in Repton,just wish the town looked cleaner,that's all it needs.

I have driven through Repton every work day for the last 16 years. It looks like there's been improvement to me. There was nothing to brag about before. Don't blame the Mayor. She's been trying to do something about it.
Cheers!

<quoted text>
I disagree-----for example,there has been drugs in Repton for many years,I think people around here knew that,some have complained,others too scared of the ramifications of telling---but it took a tipoff from others arrested in Evergreen to stop this.Downtown Repton looks bad still to me,nothing there but a small "dollhouse" store and empty,dangerous dilapidated buildings that the Carter family owns and will not tear down.I,personally have seen snakes,rats,spiders,and even more pitiful---a mother cat and starving kittens coming from those buildings while the mayor turns a blind eye to all this---it's a health hazard---plain and simple.Trust me,Repton is BROKE---and she still wants parties and celebrations that bigger towns have----cannot be-sorry---this town needs to be voted on whether or not to be dissolved---in here 5 years here as mayor,she has yet to show me anything to make this town better(new business,clean streets and ditches,better water,anything to breathe life in a town that has long passed.She lives in a dreamworld that doesnt exist.Towns small as Repton shouldnt have a mayor and government.There should be new legislation that a town must have a certain number of people(population) to have a government,not a spot in the road---everyone from here to Mobile and back that has been through here knows that.People here stand back and let this happen,they elected her,knowing full well she is not a mayor type---most of us here dont like here,but it's a quiet understood thing....take a look at whose homes she visits---she does not CONNECT with the citizens here,thats the problem,once she thinks she can do something,she does it whether or not the people here care or not-----Repton will never have anything,it "aint gonna happen....
