I personally feel that these kids are already convicted as being guilty to the public by heresay and gossip from the community in cass county mn. They deserve the benefit of the doubt just as other people in similiar situations. I hope that these kids are learning from there mistakes and hope the family of the deceased. Is healing and I do feel very sorry for the family.

The problem in Cass Lake is there is very little parental supervision. Childeren are rasing childeren. The only family these kids have is in a gang.

I personally believe that the justice department needs to look into the death more intensively due to the fact that these kids are being tried guilty because of the fact that cass lake is a small town. There is alot of decieving lies and rumors going around town. Good Luck! For the people involved in the heresay. I so sorry for the people who are grieving for the deceased.

The gang member that choosed to switch gangs should of thought of what could happen to him. Being in gangs myself you don't just get into another gang and expect nothing to happen. I guess he's just a as much to blame for the crimes happening in cass because enventually somthing probably would have happened to him. The type of life he was leading.He's for sure no saint!!!!!

as I read many of the comments on these pages,I am very concerned about the future of the people who write such awfull things they say about one another. do you realize the hurt many of you have caused to the families and friends of the one that was killed? Where are your values,do you not feel any of the hurt this whole situation has caused? Why is it so hard to actually listen to what the elders have to say? Its not that they are allowing children go down the tube, it’s that many of the parents raising these children have been brought up with abuse and neglect so the cycle repeats itself. Why is there such a high suicide rate on reservations? That’s because a majority of kids off the reservation in white communities are not raised with “right” morals so they go to school and tease disabled children or kids that are "different" because they are taught that they are better than other kids because of skin color or prosperity. The suicidal kids turn to alcohol and drugs to escape the depression and negative feelings. Alcohol which was not apart of our culture rather it was introduced to the Native Americans, many chiefs were given alcohol and then forced to sign treaties that gave land to the United States Government and settlers. The suicidal kids drop out of school because of ignorance, and return to the reservation where poverty is rampant because of the forced removal of tribes onto lands that were poor for farming the amount of land was so minimal that hunting grounds were scarce, many tribes had to rely on the surrounding resources to survive and death and sickness ensued the people. Which lead to government food programs and food packages that was the total opposite of what Native American digestive systems were accustomed to, then health problems began to occur. Diabetes, one of leading causes of death among Native Americans, is because of the government food programs, the fatty and unhealthy foods that were distributed through these programs.

CONTINUED...The US Government is using a form of genocide statistically to diminish the Native American race. You must be a certain percentage to enroll in a tribe; blood quantum identification is an act created by the United States Government. The removal policy, which involved the kidnapping of thousands of Native kids to assimilate them into a “white culture” through the use of boarding schools. What occurred at the boarding schools? Brainwashing, sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse. That explains the beginning of a cycle that will continue to repeat itself for generations. Along with statistical genocide lets not forget to mention the numerous mass executions and massacres that were committed by the United States military. The Sand Creek massacre where 400 innocent woman and children were murdered, in the midst of freezing to death on a reservation encampment (concentration camp). The wounded knee massacre where a deaf chief did not understand disarm orders and it resulted in the massacre of 200 men, woman and children with the use of the newly invented Hotchkiss guns, brought solely to test on Native Americans Some might say "do not dwell on the past" or "that happened years ago". In actuality it still continues today, the numerous land and resource tycoon companies that are affiliated with our government have the idea that mining resources such as uranium is only safe while done on reservation lands, and the clean up of the mining is not necessary since many EPA laws did not affect lands outside US borders, hence mining on reservation lands. The non-cleanup resulted in uranium waste contaminating rivers and tributaries that animals farmed by the Navajo people lived off of. The Navajo reservation, which is located in a desert region, has a limited source of water, the water that is available is contaminated and birth defects and cancer rates are sky high amongst the nation. It is a shame that more native kids are not receiving proper education, it really is. But the fact of the matter is that many of these children are growing up in such harsh poverty that it makes it 10 times more difficult to receive an education than a kid that has a strong support system and has economic stability amongst its surroundings. Why the support system is not there? Why are many of the parents not properly raising their children? Because many of the parents faced the same issues that their parents faced, a repeating cycle that many Native families are in the process of breaking, a cycle due to the ignorance of people and the harsh treatment by the American Government. Will the U.N. ever sanction the United States? That’s the question that should be pondered amongst sites such as these.
