willyp Brunswick, GA	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #1 Nov 20, 2010 Anybody around Metter remember a drag racer who ran a 1965 GTO called, "The Cobbtown Special"? I used to see him race at the old Claxton Metter dragstrip. I am curious about the car & the driver.

1968 reidsville Searcy, AR	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #3 Nov 24, 2010 I am not sure about this, that was a long time ago. I think his name was ISAC BOWEN. I remember he lived beside the service station in Cobbtown back in 1967 or 68.

Watch him lay down the rubber many, many times at the Metter/Claxton drag strip and also at the Vidalia Drag Strip at the Vidalia Airport. Always drove barefooted. Said he connected with the car better. Ran the GTO but later went to a Chevy Biscane. Looked just like a street car until you cranked it up. Then you knew it was just a little bit more than what grandma drove. I remember him and his car, very well.
