The Delaware General Assembly voted last week to restrict voting rights by not allowing voters to write-in candidates of their choice on Election Day, unless the candidate is on the ballot.
This means that voters will only be able to cast their ballots for the candidates approved by party leaders. This control of individual voting rights is one of several examples where a few party leaders try to influence election results by not allowing the election process to play out according to the rules created by them, party leaders.
Another example of Party Leaders efforts to control elections is evident in endorsements made by Party Officials long-before the primary vote is taken. The purpose of a primary is to give registered part members the opportunity to select their party's official candidate for the upcoming election.
Delaware Democrat Party officials endorsed candidates for Insurance Commissioner and Governor more than five months before the rank and file will select the party's "official" candidate in the September primary. Only official party candidates (i.e. those whom party officials endorsed) will be on the approved ballot in November.
This is an official attempt by a few to control the voting rights of the many.
This is not to single out one party over another, after all the Democrat Party and the Republican Party members of the Delaware General Assembly supported the write-in legislation.
