Notice this article says Feb 27 and both Unions were informed of the non-negotiable contract the very next day on Feb 28.

Blackstone lawyers must have been up all night with no sleep arranging the new union contract.

Article then says Blackstone wants to sell in next two quarters, one quarter is now gone, that leaves only 3 months left for the sale to occur.

People should be paid what they are worth based upon experience, education, and work performance, not by mandating what they should be paid.

Two weeks ago our Union President called Kelley Maggs and was advised that Pinnacle needed two additional weeks to make a final call. That deadline is up tomorrow (May 18th).

Its time to stop playing games and lay the cards on the table. Far too many peoples lives are on the line and the stress level is running high.

I agree we need to know whats next! I ask everyday and nothing. Still i hope for the best and fear for the worst. We all have bills and payments and family's to think of.

People just keep repeating some weird mysterious rumor that was supposedly posted on some 'official Pinnacle blog that the company has been sold a few weeks back to some unknown shadowy buyer.

I dont know what official Pinnacle blog they are talking about, nothing coming up on Google.

Everyone needs to remember the Imlay REGS voted AGAINST IT and it was the Imlay seasonals that stacked the vote.

Even if Millsboro voted FOR, it doesnt look like it would have helped as Blackstone's motto has been that its easier to run one company than two companies, thats why Pinnacle has shut down Rochester, Tacoma, Fulton, and now Millsboro. Ya cant blame Imlay.

Sen. Carper Statement on Millsboro Vlasic Pickle Plant Closure

DOVER – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released a statement following the announcement that Pinnacle Food Corporation will close its Vlasic pickle production plant located in Millsboro by the end of this year:

“I am deeply saddened by the news Pinnacle Food Corporation’s Vlasic pickle production plant in Millsboro will be closing by the end of the year. We will make this an all-hands-on-deck effort to help those impacted by this decision during the plant’s transition. The Governor and I plan to visit the facility next Wednesday and we have invited the Congressional Delegation and representatives from the Delaware Department of Economic Development, the Department of Labor, and the Sussex County government to join us so we can provide all of the assistance we can. During earlier visits to the plant, I have met many of the hundreds of employees and I also know many of the local farmers who source the company’s cucumbers. My thoughts are with them during this difficult time. I often say ‘in adversity lies opportunity,’ and we will work hard to identify a new tenant so hopefully neither the facility nor the employees will be idle for long.”

WILMINGTON, Del.– U.S. Congressman John Carney released the following statement today regarding Pinnacle Food Corporation’s decision to close its Vlasic pickle production facility in Millsboro.

“I was very disappointed to learn of Pinnacle Food Corporation’s decision to close its Vlasic pickle production plant in Millsboro. The facility has been an important part of the local economy for decades, both as an employer of nearly 150 Delawareans and as a customer of farms throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.

My thoughts go out to the workers and their families that are impacted. I will remain in close contact with the Delaware Department of Labor to ensure that they are supported with the transitional assistance and training opportunities they deserve. I will also work with the Governor, the rest of the Congressional delegation, and the Economic Development Office to bring new opportunities to the plant and region as quickly as possible.”

Oh, that's nice, maybe you should tell that to the people that had their lives taken away that are now stuck working in a fast food job. Perhaps go to a right to work state and tell them how making minimum wage is all they're worth because companies want money.

I just want to say sorry to all the Millsboro workers . I wish neither plant had to be closed. And I wish you guys the best of luck.Also, for the record I voted no, and most of us regulars voted no. But they let the seasonal hand packers vote. This vote doesn't effect the hand packers , so of course they voted yes. There are roughly 200 seasonal hand packers, and 180 some odd regulars. Vlasic got exactly the outcome they were hoping for.Those of us who voted no, had no hope.

Hello Imlay workers,
How is Imlay handling the 2012 summer work load so far? Millsboro is running very light so far with no Saturdays or overtime.
Do you think Imlay be able to run the 16-20 +/- million cases (previously done by two plants) next year?
Summer of 2013 will be very interesting. I think this Pinnacle downsize plan wont work for long, but we shall see.

Things at Imlay are quite slow. Very little green stock coming in and running mostly salt stock.

I agree with you, 2013 green season at Imlay should be something to see.
