For the 5th time: These dogs and their owners should be neutered before someone gets hurt or killed.

How long will this go on!!!? These dogs are too dangerous to have around kids!! Pit Bulls should be put down; end of story. Too bad it's not the end of the story for the mother of this kid.

This is a sad story. Large dogs don't need to be around small children. Even with watching them, the dog could snap in a second, quicker then you could get to the child. Either chain these big dogs up, don't get one, or don't have your grandchildren or any children over to your house. A child's life is worth a WHOLE lot more then a dog's life.

Not everyone should own a pitt bull. Things like this happen because people are irresponsible. With owning a powerful breed like that, it takes a large amount of responsibilty, training, and time with that dog. The breed itself is not a dangerous breed. No breed of dog in general is "dangerous". People who think they know what they are doing owning them when they in fact do not. All states should require some kind of license, thorough training and of course insurance when owning any kind of powerful breed. I pray for the family. Such a sad and terrible loss.

These dogs represent nothing but a power trip to the owners. I have an 11 year old Chocolate lab who loved children when she was a young dog but now that she is older and more cranky, I watch my granddaughter like a hawk around her. Unfortunately, I cannot always control where she is and who else she is around (the child) and to know if other people are as careful to watch their animals around children as I am. The fear is always there but we just have to pray and hope for the best. Still these sad stories are way too many. My question is: why would anyone take the risk to begin with and have these dogs around children?

I agree, and don't leave out the small dogs. I had a paper route in high school and this one dog was ever so friendly as I petted it for about 5 minutes, but as soon as I left the yard the dang thing latched on to my ankle with a death grip. A teeny tiny little mutt of a pup and it took two people to get him to let go. Children should always be monitored while pets are around.

Prayers for the family for strength, comfort and peace.

Boy-oh-Boy
These pitbull owners; when you think they have hit the lowest common denominator in society, they can always reach a bit further down and still surprise everyone.

Now another child's life has been snuffed out because these buffoon still clamour over the attributes of this breed. Are there any redeaming qualites of these dogs? Heck might as well include the owners too, that is, what does this group of social fringe-element people adhere too?

I prefer to bring them up on manslaughter charges.
It's the same endangerment, if some fool of a drunk got behind the wheel and killed someone in an "accident".

Apparently, quite a few of the owners of these breeds are not responsible enough to ensure the well being of others. So why should society have any concern for them, other than beating sense into them with monsterous fines and imprisonment?

I agree with some one your points but let me say I don't with the first. I think you should have said "Small children do not need to be around dog, small or large". Also, a dog should never be chained up. Chaining a dog only make the dog mean - I don't care what kind of dog it is. The dogs are not the problem - people are the problem. All breeds are not meant for all people. All dogs require responsible ownership and and we all know all owners are not responsible. Blessing to this family, I can't even imagine how this Grandmother must feel. People - WATCH your children & your animals!

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Scorpio

Your thoughts turn to the past today, putting you in a nostalgic mood. You're awash with sentimental tears as you dwell on days gone by or gaze at photos of people you'll never see again. However, try not to let this mood of reminiscence turn into a tendency to feel sorry for yourself and therefore to demand special treatment from others.
