I received a notification from Tiger Direct that they are refunding an assurz purchase to my credit card due to assurz "experiencing difficulties."

Fine, thank you.

Good service that didn't stand a chance of working. Money losing proposition, and a bad business model.

Wish they would have waited to experience "difficulties" until after I was 100% certain I wasn't returning the item(s) after 89 days.

what a total pile of s--t, TD should honor the 90 days regardless, and let them keep the assurz fee, that was the ONLY reason i ordered my laptop, now they renig, and the they extend it 10 extra days, 40 total days, instead of 90, what a crock, not yet sure if i like the machine, had planned on 90 days to look-see, even paid for it, then bam, liars...

Do not use this service it is a sham. This company is a farce and slipshod.

I bought an item from TigerDirect and used Assurz. The item had to be returned.

This was over a month ago. I got an e-mail from Assurz on 5-30-08 saying the refund check was on the way. To date NOTHING.

Don't buy from Tiger Direct or use Assurz unless you want to get ripped off and screwed over.
There are other companies who will treat you with respect and whose word is good.

Stay as far away as possible from Assurz and Tiger Direct. Order elsewhere and spare yourself the nightmare of getting jerked around.

Looks like Tiger Direct set their customers up knowing Assurz was going bust.

Actually, Tiger Direct has honored the 90 days of Assurz, because customers were having difficulty reaching them (myself included).
They have even set up an assurz helpline, they took care of my issue quickly.
This was only a tool to serve customers better, not a "scam," a word that you people throw around too much. They are different companies, so Tiger obviously had no idea this was going to happen.

I bought 2 processors from thenerds.com in March, and used the Assurz guarantee. I returned them both in April, and got the emails from assurz telling me the refunds were approved on May 1. I never received a check, and assurz never returns my calls.

I called thenerds.com customer service, and they told me there's nothing the can (or will) do... I'm out about $450, and if I don't get this resolved soon, I'm never going to use thenerds.com again.

You guys need to get off your high horse and realize that TD was not the only company using Assurz... Unlike some other companies TD is actually attempting to make good on this situation by doing your refunds, they have no obligation to send you a refund check and could as easily just send you to hell like thenerds.com is doing..

So funny thing is you guys will call in and almost start crying on the phone, then come on the internet and scream scam, but in a month when you get your check will you come back on here and post how TD actually help you get a check? Ha... I think not.

Did you call TD and give them the information? If you did you would know that you would be receiving a refund check for whatever you sent to Assurz.. So why are you here complaining?

If it makes you feel any better, the employees were kept in the dark about the financial situation at Assurz until upper management couldn't keep it a secret any longer... when Assurz missed payroll and didn't pay employees on May 30th.
TD picked up the Assurz return phone number and is trying to make good on their customer claims. TD is doing all they can, but they were just as screwed as the nerds, tool fetch, lighting direct, faucet direct, and all of the other merchants Assurz had partnered with. Many of these merchants are doing what TD is doing and offering assistance to customers.
It sucks you guys are out a few bucks for the worthless "Satisfaction Guarantee" Assurz promised, but it really sucks for the 20 or so employees that were lied to and who are now out of a job, missed payroll money, and medical insurance for their family.
Assurz has filed for bankruptcy, so rest assured they won't be around anymore.
I had two friends that worked there and met their boss on one occasion. Stay far far away from anything upper management at Assurz gets involved in!

i purchased from tiger direct 2 items and bought assurz insurance, and still have not been able to get any answers anywhere and the credit still has not been given. I can't believe it. Tiger Direct has always been great with their customers until now.

Ok.. So many details are lacking, did you even call them? Did you provide a claim# and tracking# showing proof that you sent something to Assurz?

You Dopes. You are all screwed that bought Assurz. They went BK in June and you will never see any money. There is no such thing as Assurz any more. The employees will be able to tell horor stories. Stay tuned.

For all you crybabies out there I say this: The reality is you bought merchandise that you were probably going to return anyway, so due your due diligence first then buy and enjoy it. Companies go bankrupt every day and the laws of bankruptcy require the company's assets to be frozen so Assurz or anyone else have no ability to make good on promises. TigerDirect is a shitty company run by a scam artist, its been known for years. Do business at your local retailer and all will be well

For all you crybaby employees at Assurz: Companies go bankrupt every day. Do you think upper management wanted his outcome? They are out of a job too and had much more to loose by this outcome. They have families too. Sometimes the closing of a start up business is directed by the venture funding and is completely out of the control of company employees and management. Get over it, it happens every day, get your head out of the sand and go work for an established company if you can't stand the volatility of a start-up

I contacted Tigerdirect today (because the assurz # leads to them) and they didn't "understand" why assurz calls were being directed to them. They only deal with Tigerdirect and compuserve or compusa or something. I also was looking for a refund check for an item returned. I have a claim number, tracking number and an assurance from June 25th that "the check was in the mail". Looks like that definately isnt' going to happen now.

To all of you folks. "If it looks to good to be true, it probably is"
Ever heard that one?
If you can't afford a product without dealing with these kinds of retailers, sit tight until you have the cash to buy from a dealer you trust.
