Teen involved in bus brawl to file claim against Torrance

They should send that bus driver to jail for hitting a minor, it shows clearly he (the driver) threw the first punch on the tape, how much evidence you need, he lucky he didn't kill him. He shouldn't
be getting paid the tape shows everything. What's wrong with these people it shows how immataure that driver is if he doesn't like his job why do it, he needs to grow up.

Teenagers/students should be able to ride the bus for free. If the bus fare was free, then this bully would have no need to harass kids he thinks are stealing rides.

I would rather see my Torrance tax dollars go towards something such as free fares for students that benefits our community long-term, rather than having the money being wasted on some silly parade.

It should not have come to a fist fight that's for sure. It could have been an honest mistake on the part of the driver. I'll bet some choice words exchanged by BOTH of them is what fueled the fire. Is that on the tape? Let's hope the ambulance-chasing attorney doesn't deal the race card.

It sure looks like if you read between the lines that we got some disrespectful punk here who violated the rules of the bus. What kind of a hood would verbally assault an adult and then bring the situation to violence? If my Dad found out that I verbally assaulted a person of authority like this punk, he would congratulate the driver and the city of Torrance. And I would have most of my butt removed, learning to NEVER question a bus driver with threats. I will bet this so called "child" has no Father in the home. Momma feels like she hit the lotto with the rest of us taxpayers. No, if the rest of the passengers are pushing the punk off the bus also there is definitly more to this story. I am voting for the bus driver and the city here. Have you ever rode one of these buses with five or six of these "children" on board without a driver with some balls? I have and I am giving full support for the driver. Just my opinion based on the article.

Having rode a bus recently I noticed more than one camera, thus there are other views we are not seeing! I also witnessed how much disrespect these drivers have to put up with. The news media and attorney that represents the family have edited the tape. A driver told me the So called Kid that is taller than the driver not only was verbally abusive but also pushed the driver and threw the first punch!

I think the Daily Breeze should request the tape and tell the truth!

Oh I forgot I heard this is not Jamels first time at breaking the law! Ask his probation officer!!

Anyone who has driven in Torrance traffic, and had to interface with the dreadful driving and miserable manners of the bus drivers of Torrance Transit knows...well..this company hires the lowest common denominator to sit behind the wheel of their vehicles. As drivers they are just downright UNSAFE! Now we know they are nuts, too.

These passengers should be in the lawsuit as well.. This is the problem, people not minding their own business.. Heaven forbid the passengers "HELP" in stopping it, no they join in.. and the bus drivers needs to be fired.

Where does it state this in the story that the kid verbally assaulted the driver? Oh, you assume this!! You need to reread. I think you were reading between the lines!!

I agree with your comments about wasting money on a silly parade! But surely you understand that stealing a ride is just that, a crime of theft!

If the kid did not pay and perpetrated a theft then I feel sorry for the bus driver. My advise to all bus drivers is that if the tape reveals that the kid did not pay and the company does not back the driver then let all the people who refuse to pay ride for free and worry about your own A$$!

The tape is EDITED!! By the Attorney!!

I wish the Breeze would check the facts before printing things like this!!

Dear Editor Request a unedited version of the tape and the rewrite the article.

I have to agree with you, but I think BEACH CITIES TRANSIT has the worst drivers. They don't completely stop at intersections. They drive above the speed limit. Their ad for drivers said "no experience necessary".
