As long as he gets his $22000 raise, I guess we don't need firemen and cops...

The areas that we need most, police and fire, are the areas that need cut? I dont think so. How about asking some of those high paid officials, to take a voluntary pay decrease for a while. Or how about ask the City employees to take their own vehicles to and fro and save on gas consumption. Some of the City vehicles I have seen...Ford Expeditions, and oversized trucks..big gas guzzlers should be used minimally instead of daily. Give everyone a Ford ranger pick up truck. We need MORE police and fire services...not less!

Sad sad news! I would think, starting at the AirPort whith our Crime Stopping Plane would be a good start. Then I would think of the Police positions covering our Down Town area, that aren't needed now , with the installation of a number of new Cameras that only take ONE person to monitor. Im sure there is alot of waste in many areas,if one was in the true know of things!

Actually its $240,000 and according to him, "The council didn't give me this raise, i earned it." His raise was approved 4-1 with Jerry Bean being the only one to seem realize that this was "excessive" in hard economic times. Mike Gallagher warranted the raise pretty much saying they were lucky to have him and that "He was head and shoulders above 44 applicants who'd applied last year." If a greedy man with a long history of harassment and money related charges against him in a number of different cities is "head and shoulders" over 44 other people, then how bad are they? Well i guess if our city manager isn't willing to take a hit its a good thing that our brave police and fire men and women are there to take it for him.

You should take a little closer look at the actual Police and Fire budgets. The proposed budget by the City Mismanager actually raised the Police budget by about a million but lowered the Fire budget by a million. He seems to think cutting our public safety while adding some 14 positions in other departments is a great idea. I don't think we need any more of his bright ideas! Let the public know that our city is now going to be at much greater risk.
