Full story: San Bernardino County Sun

Erica Mattrione is happy with the vibe of her Seventh Street neighborhood. She describes it as "typical" and doesn't mind that it's not very exciting.

Went to high school on Colton, would never step foot into that city again unless I get the desire to see run down houses with cars parked in the front yard.

It's not the town it used to be years ago but not all of it looks like shit Ken. They're still some old timers there that take pride in their homes, but also ALLOT of who just don't care. It's to bad but I still have love for Colton at least the Colton It once was hey at least the crime is down.

Dont get me wrong, there are people who love the city, and take pride in their homes, but unfortunately that's about one person per street. It's always a bad sign when there are shopping carts all over, people sitting in their garage with the door open at noon drinking beer, and streets where most people have a 4 foot chain link fence around their front yard with a raging pit bull barking at you. The sad reality for Colton is that it will continue to blend with San Bernardino, with little to no hope of change for the better.

My husband and I live in Colton, and are originally from Los Angeles. I am a Homeowner who is proud to live in this city. We bought a second house in Reche Canyon for our mom to live in, who is from Los Angeles. I think once you come to our city, see the beautifully kept parks and city streets, it is not hard relocating from another place- It only is blaringly obvious that we should have considered our move sooner. The Police Department here are professionals who extend themselves daily to their residents. They are not only doing a job here, they truly care about this city, and it is occupants. I am proud to call Colton our 'hometown'.

If you lived in LA, anything else is a better, aside from living in Iraq. If you haven't lived in LA, Colton has numerous problems. If you don't believe me, feel free to park your car downtown and take a walk after dark. I would give you a few minutes before you dial the cops or go running towards your car.

Kimberly thank you and welcome to Colton. As you can see by the post we have a certain group who will tear down Colton but if you ever have any questions and or problems please ask the Chief Bob Miller and for the matter ask your council member provided you live in one of the honest districts. Visit Laura at the Chamber she is great. Get to know the true good people of Colton and we are everywhere.

Word to the wise stay away from anyone who is Colton First. If you hear something or read something please ask questions of our officals to get the real truth and facts. Please get involved in your city. We have no political corruption at this time like we have had in the past.

Number 1 rule: Avoid the Colton First idiots.

There are parts of Colton that are good, and parts that are bad. Yada yada yada; such is life. Reche Canyon is not a good representation of the rest of the city. I moved from Colton recently, and I lived by Arrowhead hospital in a decent area so my time there was not bad. There are parts of the city, however, which could be called nothing less than ghetto. Look at the apartment complexes near WalMart! It is like a war zone down there. I have mixed feeling about Colton PD, the bad feelings honestly stemming from my own stupid mistakes. That said, I wouldnt want to have their job working in this city. The ghetto people, the gangsters, the Colton First idiots...

Colton has a problem: their police budget. The Colton police have a SWAT team, helicopter, two swat vehicles, a heavy assault vehicle, among the most police per citizens in the region. They have had this for over a decade. I know because I lived their and my family is from the city.

Colton had a child care center provided by the city until the police department eyed the location. They lobbied the city council to cease funding for the center and convert it to a "Police juvenile community center". It now sits as a hub for vehicles and equipment. I moved and took my 75K a year back to San Bernardino...

LOL Arthur, your an idiot. A helicopter?? Colton PD has no helicopter. The Sheriff's Department has a Helicopter that helps Colton PD out. Also, every Police Department has a SWAT team. Oh sorry, I forgot, you already know because you used to live in Colton, and your family is from there. With those qualifications you should run for Mayor!

Oh, by the way, what is a Police Juvenile Community Center? Do the Police Officers that are still juveniles go there...you know while they are still waiting to turn 21? Your ignorance and stupidity is awesome.

Aries

You'll be in a better position to get on well with someone who has power or authority over you. This might be your boss, some other authority figure, a friend you really respect or an older relative. Maybe you should chat up your superiors at the office Christmas party... or make more of an effort to understand what makes a certain person tick.
