Dianne, don't know if you're still around to read but I live in Redford and haven't heard of anything like this happening.
I'm in the South Redford Area and haven't heard or seen anything like it. We have a nice little area and there is definitely a larger population of blacks here.
Hey as far as I can figure, don't wake me up at 3 in the morning with a party and we'll get along a ok.

This happened in my neighborhood, but it was just some ignorant people picking on this poor black family that didn't do anything wrong, they were getting hate calls, a cross was burned in thier lawn and they get harassed by a neighbor that lives across the street from them. they have every right to live there just as much as everyone else. i think it is because they are the 1st black family that lives so close, other black families live on the other side of the neighborhood. but if you want to move to redford, i suggest you move in a house close to the livonia side (my side of south redford) because on the other side of telegraph there are a bunch of houses being broken into, people getting shot, hookers walking around and drugs being done and sold.

I've lived at 5 and Telegraph for 3 years and our street is about 50/50. We all get along great and watch out for one another. Racism is a horrible thing and it must be stopped! Teach your children that 'all men (and women) are created equal' and to never judge a person by the color of their skin. The true measure of a human being is their character and that can't be seen with the eye.

Charles, all I proved is that Redford is a second-class city with 19th century dirt roads and that you can't articulate a coherent thought without Tracey spelling it out for you! Seriously, Charles, Redford is the armpit of the western suburbs... You can have cute slogans like "Redford, the gateway to the suburbs" or whatever the hell your bumperstickers say...but Redford is simply a part of Detroit that Detroit wouldn't even annex (what does that say about your township!)Come talk to me when your city/twp can even remotely compare to bordering cities such as Southfield/Farmington Hills/ Livonia or Dearborn Heights!!

I grew up in farmington proper and went to all private schools and I'll tell you what I live in redford union now and my neighbors are friendlier and more willing to give you a helping hand then anybody ever was in that stuck up neighborhood my parents still live in a house is only where you hang your hat and combined saleries of myself and husband are well over 150000 and I would much rather associate with my redford neighbors instead of some of those other communities with peopl;e that have a stick up their butt We also lived in Novi for a while a year and a half didn't even know who our neighbors were they were so stand 'offish' we will be moving soon to the country we both like wide open spaces but as for neighbors they are the best in redfors

Sorry Bob your ignorant statement about the roads just ended any chance of you being taken seriously. As some people know Redford has been paving there roads at a huge discount to its residents improvements are being made I would rather live in Redford than our neighboring cities. I know the only part of Redford youve ever seen in in the padded cella t 5& beech at the police lock up !www.itrusttracey.com

Denise and Charles,
The fact that you two would rather live in Redford than in Farmington, Farmington Hills, Novi or Livonia says one of two things...you are either delusional or fricken rednecks! By the way, Charles, what the hell is that smell in the area of Beech Daly south of I-96?! Everytime I drive past that petroleum refinery i want to vomit! And, the fact that you even have to defend yourself against dirt roads in the 21st century speaks volumes about the backward ass state of your township!

That is probably $125,000 more than you make. I sense some jealousy on your part.

What an example some of you are setting, to prove the state of American humanity or in-humanity in this case. Shame on those of you judging or condeming others because of their circumstances. To put someone down because they have no choice but live in a certain area is shameful. I hope you are never forced to down grade yourself from your high horse egotistical pedestal! Yes, some people in many areas are not the best neighbors, but don't lump everyone in that category because of the few. People in glass houses...should clean their own windows to the world and look at reality! Michigan citizens are all struggling. City's can't always keep up. But for the grace of God, you aren't living in a less affluent neighborhood. That doesn't mean you aren't lower class with your poor behavior and hurtful comments. There are low class, ignorant, selfish, biggoted people in so called Upper Class neighborhoods that I wouldn't want spend 2 minutes with, that lift a finger for someone in need, yet I could rely on someone who may live on a dirt road in a low income home, to aid me if needed without blinking an eye. I am a single mother, supporting a family and my grandmother very well. I've lived in Northville, Livonia, Redford and Westland, and had good and bad neighbors in each location! I treat people with respect until they prove they don't deserve it! Some on here, sure don't deserve it!

HI all, We have lived in the 6 mile delaware area in redford for the last eight years. i have seen the township chance for the worst in the last 3 years. partly to blame is sub prime mortgages forclosures, rentals etc... people trying to sell cant so they rent them, investers buying foreclosures cheap and renting to whomever will pay the rent. however there alot of other cities going thru the same problems.

Good morning all. "Can't we all just get along?" Redford Township is at a crossroad and it has nothing to do with our diverse race or socio-economic cultures. Those are qualities that make our community great!
The challenges we are faced with in Redford are similar to those of our surrounding communities: Livonia, Dearborn Heights, Southfield, Detroit and Farmington Hills. Those challenges include the need to do much more with much less funding, a shrinking economy, unemployment rates that are through the roof, and of course there are the increases in the daily cost of living... the list goes on and on.
The one thing we each have personal control over and the ability to change is character and integrity. It is the character and integrity of people demonstrated in the way we choose to work, play and live together that makes a community thrive or fail. I challenge everyone to do their part in modeling good moral character and acting with integrity in all that you do. Your behavior has a direct impact on everyone around you.
