After reading this diatribe, I am sure your fellow Redfordites are thrilled to have you in their community. As if there isn't enough violence at Thurston already, you are willing to teach your children to bring even more violence.

Well Jon Do...I am a African American femail. I will not say that your "white" daughter deserved to be attacked by some "black" kids from Detroit. Where you're from or the color of your skin has no bearing on what happened to your daughter. Violence is everywhere. Get off your high horse. Discounting the effects that slavery has had upon the African American culture is absurd and incompasionate. Imagine if your culture was stripped of their dignity, families separated and you're constantly treated as if you're beneath a dog. Sure, a small amount African Americans were able to adapt and move on, but not the entire race. Unfortunately, there are still families affected by believing they are worthless, self-doubt, self pity, void of resources, etc. Do you know there are racist white people in Redford...I resided in an area w/known racists, but that did not make me discount the white people who weren't racist that lived in the same neighborhood. Hmmm. I know better. My point is, before you start yanking your children out of good schools, struggle a bit like the African Americans. Peacefully unite and fight for your daughter's rights. Show her that not all people have the same beliefs, but if we come together to resolve our issues, we can overcome any obstacle. I was able to peacefully reside and interact with individuals who judged me based on my skin moreso than my character. I thank God for people like Martin Luther King jr and President John F Kennedy. At the height of racism, these men knew that the cause was greater than the fight. Lastly, don't assume because a black person went to college or lives in a nice community that they are great individuals. I surely don't assume that about my white co-workers (and I love my co-workers to pieces). People are people, plain and simple. Teach your daughter better and get her ready for life beyond high school. Urban people are everywhere lol...

I have friends and work with many African-Americans with solid education and great families. They attended schools such as MIT, UofM, etc. have excellent jobs and lives. Yet with all these accomplishments they are called 'Uncle Toms' by their own community because they acclimated to the American society and prospered from it. I would certainly welcome them into my neighborhood and home. But not these urban types.
