Police detain 16 teens at Thurston H.S. incident

The Police in this particular situation may have overstepped the law. And then the judge took it to another level by letting down the hammer by asking for the 25k cash bond for each do the math as well. The city I guess is strapped for cash huh?

yes they really are cause the boys were not even on the schools property they were on the bridge so wat were they arested 4 being black or just being deep the judger even sterio typed them n said"ur gang related what fcf fcc" my cuzzin knew nothing about a fcf fcc or what ever then my other cousin had a shirt that said free fetti and she said"oh is that what u r about free fetti".maybe

I was not over at 17 this morning. The appeal is being heard starting at 9AM. We will know soon whether bond is continued or changed. Unfortunately, it's the same judge hearing the appeal as made the original bond. She probably will not be influenced by the crowd in front of her and will have her mind made up going in. I think what was done is so clearly wrong that it will not stand even if today's battle is lost.

Money is not the issue here. The jailing of the young men is costing Redford. Where they make it back is stopping cars on Telegraph South between 7 mile and 96. The police in Redford are mad at the influx of blacks into their city.

your right. Teens should be able to act however they want where ever they want. If they want to group up and act disorderly we should let them. Because I think we all know that a group of teenagers are probably the best decision makers.

It's important that parents defend every decision teens make right or wrong because how could their precious children ever be involved in something that isn't right.

Secondly, we know that race is surely a factor behind every arrest of teens.

Maybe if parents and adults would take time to raise their own kids the city wouldn't have to do it for them; and if you leave it up to the Government to do it, don't complain about what you get.

If yall ask me they need 2 lock up more of these blacks that are always "just standing around". Bull spit these lil mongroles are always up 2 sumthing. The need 2 make a law against being black and standing around in a crowd!!!

If that crowd is threatening the safety of others that crowd needs to be dispersed. If it doesn't the cops can either arrest people or apologize and walk away.
Apparently they can't do either. If they arrest their racist, if they don't they get sued when somebody get hurt.
Making ignorant statements just make discussions a waist of time and makes you look as stupid as everybody else.
Is there any chance of the world smartening on its own or do we need people making all of our decisions for us?

You make light of a serious situation without knowing the facts.
Most of those arrested were adults, not children. They are facing adult records over this. No weapons of any sort were found except when they searched one person's vehicle later. Assembly is not a crime in this country. You should not be prosecuted for your thoughts. The law should be enforced equally among races and it was not in this case. Who gets $25K cash bond for disturbing the peace? Nobody except the blacks in this case. The group was not given the opportunity to disband. They cooperated fully with the authorities and probably would have if asked. If they had not at that point, it would have been a crime. The only crimes here were the police denial of rights and the judges denial of fair bond.

your right, Assembly is not a crime, but it's a bit naive to think that the police just decided to go through the trouble of arresting 17 people and processing the paperwork for absolutely no reason. you are also correct about the fact that I may not know all of the facts for the simple reason that I wasn't there. Were you? If so I stand corrected. however; The truth usually falls somewhere between both parties stories.

I will continue to argue that it is naive to think that a group of "young adults" would draw the attention of police simply by hanging out. The police, I'm fairly certain, weren't called to break up a prayer meeting.

I know this because as a "young adult" I thought I was always being hassled by police (yes even the white kids feel that way). When that happened we took our medicine, didn't talk back, couldn't scream racism, and paid whatever tickets we got.

Oh and by the way... When I had my run ins with the law as a teenager and as an adult, I was usually guilty even if I didn't want to admit it.

I am sick and tired of the political correctness of this society. If the Redford police department did not act we would be hearing about a school shooting on all of the national networks. The police department was doing its job, protecting its citizens. These 16 teens came to Thurston High school for one reason, to intimidate with the intent to injure. We should be lauding the police department and Judge for preventing a school attack; rather we stick up for the offenders. The uneducated and low class citizens are easy prey for organizations such as the NAACP whose sole existence is to intimidate and sway decisions of others. You disagree with the president.. you are a racist...you arrest criminal offenders.. you are a racist…you exert your judicial powers… you are a racist… Do we see a pattern here? When there is no substance to make an argument the easiest excuse is to scream racism. I had the unfortunate experience of living in Redford and attending Thurston High school up until the year 2000. While attending, I seen the Black students make racist remarks and threats to white students and when brought to the authorities they would ignore it due to fears of being labeled racist. I guess if you are African American, of the Muslim faith or an Illegal Immigrant you have the authority to break/ignore the law and blame it on the “White People”.

One point that everyone here, black or white, can take away is that it's never smart to take a quick plea on anything. The prosecutor wants a quick plea to take advantage of accused before they get up to speed on their rights. Don't be in a hurry. Get representation and bond out. Then make a thoughtful decision on your best move. The so called "deal" can only improve with time.

But no one, even the police, even say that a crime other than assembly took place. This is why I believe the city would lose in a higher court. It has to be a higher court or at least a jury trial as that judge is tainted. She had to cut the bond because a judge behaving similarly on the east side was sanctioned recently. She saw the light at the end of the tunnel and ran. From the accounts, it seems that the boys were actually turning back headed home when they were arrested. I was not there either. The cases of the men who pled not guilty will yield more evidence than those who pled guilty. We're getting a lot of hearsay in the news.

1st off just wanna say judge kahlil sets bonds very high in damn near every case she gets a chance to,shes not racist just a mean lady who takes her job to seriously. 2nd those kids came to redford with the intention of starting problems. a few of them are gang members who just brought their friends as back up cause they are to scared to fight by themselves. the redford police did the right thing.the parents are screaming racism because they dont know any better,they are ignorant just like their kids
