do we even know if the marijuana was hers? she does have a teenaged daughter. interesting that everyone automatically assumes it is hers. how many parents with teens know exactly what would be found if their home were searched???

I am interested in the fact that only one said she should have a second chance while others want her fired. look at other drugs in school forums on here and parents are like kids will do what the want to do. Leave the kids alone it's not the schools business. Then in this story BAM"If you're going to be around kids that young, it's zero tolerance, you know," Paula Mota said. "You're an influence, you're out there, you're with them on a daily basis."
Parents are so hypocritical it is sickening. I do not condone what she did, but at the same time, I think it is a little bit of a lynching on this teacher.
But obviously we do not know the full facts to this story, such as why the police searched her home, I mean obviously they had reason to, but the article does not state why. i could be on some other matter entirely.

Does any one know why her house was searched? This does not make any since unless you get all of the story.

This is nuts!!! First of all, marijuana is not controlled, it is banned. So, a charge of possession of a controlled substance (typically a felony) is wrong. There is no mention of how much was found, so it could very well be a misdemeanor.
Next, do people really believe that (even if it was the teacher's) marijuana use would impact her ability to teach? Hell, it would probably make her a bit more relaxed in the classroom.
Had this teacher been drinking beer, would there be this much concern about the children's welfare?
