I must say, Hugo, that I'm amused by your broad generalization of such a diverse group of people. Most Red Budians are kind, giving, tolerant, understanding, God fearing citizens. I've found them to welcome all good people into their town, and treat them with neighborly kindness.

Your post leads me believe that you're possibly some low-life, piece of sh!t, druggie, troublemaking slimeball. If that's the case, the citzens of Red Bud would probably kindly ask you to leave town before the police find a reason to arrest you, or one of them puts a 12 gauge to the back of your brainstem.

Have a lovely day.

I for one love the fact that my town has activities where the community as a whole comes together. Holiday happenings is one of my favorites. Its not all about hunting and there are no beer stands so it's not a drunk fest. Sounds to me like someone doesn't like the holidays.

Deer hunting is a part of life in southern Illinois. I am not a hunter and would never hunt, but the sad reality is that it is necessary to keep the population under control. Deer Fest started by offering a place for hunters in this area to check in their deer and register with the state. The tradition just continues. I, for one, do not like the practice so I just don't go around the check in station. If you don't want to see it, don't go around it. Holiday Happenings kicks off the holiday season (I say Holiday because it starts with Thanksgiving and ends with the new year). If you don't like it, stay home. Some people will complain about anything just to give them something to complain about. Why don't you take pride in our town and do something to make it better instead of sitting at home complaining behind a computer screen.

Holiday Happenings...Kill a deer and hey lets see how much the town can gay its self up with all the damn lights. What ever happened to the simple decorations this town use to have that were attached to the utility poles? I'm almost certain more money is wasted on those few hundred of bulbs being strung in the trees, than just a few dozen in those old decorations. Also Christmas Walk/Holiday Happenings should be AFTER THANKSGIVING!!! Stop ramming this crap down our throats earlier and earlier each year.

Ya its not all about hunting, then why is it the schools don't have school on the first Friday of deer season? Just so happened to be "Teachers Institute." My ass its because all the freaking parents allow their kids to skip school to spend a day killing these damn things. Also they should move the freaking weigh in station to some other part of town where us regular folks don't have to see their bodies being hung up almost at the center of town. For out of town people that just so happen to drive through right now may say "Oh what a lovely town...(Drives by Sportos)...what a bunch of fucking rednecks."

They are hung up behind Sporto's. You have to look for it to know it's there. And do you know how many people come to Red Bud in the winter because of the christmas lights? You wouldn't because you are a redneck loser.

Everyone is calling everyone else either gay or redneck or both. I'm getting confused.

O.K. the hunters are rednecks, and their wives that are on the beautification committee are gay.

Or maybe the city is gay for hanging the lights, and the hunters are rednecks.

NO, the hunters are gay because they control the deer population so we don't have deer inhumanely starving to death during the winter, and the city is redneck for burning too much electricity and wasting fossil fuels in the process.

Wait, the people driving by the weigh station are gay because the sight of the deer is offensive to them and the rednecks are the ones drinking beer and eating chili.

We can all agree that parades are gay, so friday night was all gay, except for the salon that had a "grandma got run over by a John Deere" float. They are definintely rednecks, but it's a salon and boutique, so that's kind of gay.

Eureka! I've had an epiphany! The whole town is a bunch of gay rednecks. Wait, that's not right. It just doesn't make sense.

How about this.

The whole town had a great weekend of commerce enhancing festivities that most attendees enjoyed. It was a great way to kick off the Christmas season and showcase a beautiful community and it's citizens.

If you can't dig that, brother, I don't get your vibe. It's a cool scene, man, enjoy the ride.

Take your kids hunting, and you won't have to go hunting your kids...

Beauty of America is you can go live where you want. You don't like Red Bud LEAVE, matter of fact if you don't like Red Bud, you won't like any of S. IL. So head on up to the city and watch the leeches up there live off all our taxes from down here.

I double dog dare you to go down to the deer check in this weekend stand up on a soap box and declare your statement face to face rather than the anonymity of Topix and see how the crowd greets you to Red Bud.... you wouldn't have the balls to do that now would ya???

That's right! Because EVERYONE that lives in the city should be thankful for the fine tax payers of southern illinois. Without all you fine folks we wouldn't have the great lives that we lead. LOL. You're an idiot if you really believe that. There are plenty of people living in those small trashy southern illinois towns that are living off YOUR tax money, using LINK cards for cigs, getting cash off them for Meth and etc. Get a friggin' clue. You're one reason small town people get a bad wrap. Shoot off your mouth without the smallest bit of evidence to back it.

Here's your evidence pal...( you sound like you're from the city, rude, name calling)
There are 13 Million people in IL, 8 Million live in the Chicago area. That only leaves 5 million folks in the rest of the whole darn state... So... where are most of the leeches? Sure there are some folks down here on the govt ride, but not NEARLY what resides up on the edge of the lake... I also reside in a small S. IL town... I don't know a single person that is getting govt benefits personally... Now I can drive up to South Wee Chicago (AKA East Stl.) and see most of that which is below Interstate 80... And we all know the tax money ain't spent down here til the damn road is actually falling apart....

I have several friends in RB and they are very cool, however, alot of the people are very snotty and better than outsiders.. The lights look good, and the deer contests are neat as well.

People in Red Bud don't think they're better than outsiders, they just don't like them to stay longer than they're invited. Red Bud is a nice, clean town. I see new trash in town every time I drive through, but the town is pretty good about keeping it in the trailer parks and cheap apartments.

As long as the trash stays out of sight, Red Bud is a nice town. I don't understand why anyone would think that Red Budians have an unfairly high opinion of themselves.

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Capricorn

You're feeling slightly unconventional and you're looking for activities that will reflect your mood. You certainly won't be very keen on doing things that are drearily predictable or boring, although you'll grit your teeth and get on with them if you have no choice. But ideally you should do things on the spur of the moment, preferably in the company of people who make you feel alive and alert.
