cyber hate talk wrote: Fifty-nine percent (59%) of U.S. voters believe that the current level of political anger in the country is higher than it was when George W. Bush was president. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 22% think the level of political anger is lower now, while 16% rate it as about the same. Despite frequent Republican complaints about the vitriol leveled at President Bush, 69% of GOP voters say the level of anger is higher now, a view shared by 53% of Democrats and 56% of voters not affiliated with either party. But just 12% of voters nationwide say that the opposition to President Obama’s health care plan and other initiatives is racist, as some prominent Democrats, including former President Jimmy Carter, have charged. (Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook. Sixty-six percent (66%) of all voters say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government, including 36% who are Very Angry. Among those voters who are Very Angry, 74% say the level of anger is higher now, while 13% say it’s lower and 12% say it’s about the same. Even the majority of those who are now very or not at all angry about the government’s actions right now say the level of political anger is higher under Obama. Forty-three percent (43%) of voters are at least somewhat concerned that the political anger will turn violent, with 22% who are Very Concerned. But 54% are not that worried about potential political violence. Anger at Bush’s policies, particularly the war in Iraq, played a major role in Obama’s election last November over Republican candidate John McCain. In the final full month of his presidency, just 13% of Americans said they Strongly Approved of the way that Bush performed his job, giving him an overall job approval rating of –30 in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll. By comparison, although Obama has been tracking in negative territory for weeks, 31% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way he is performing as president. His job approval rating stands at –8 in the daily Presidential Tracking Poll. Just before Bush left office in January, 57% of Americans said he was one of the five worst presidents in U.S. history. Most voters (56%) continue to blame the nation’s current economic problems on the recession that started under Bush, but 37% blame the policies implemented by Obama. Adding to the level of anger is the new finding that 75% of adults now say Americans are becoming ruder and less civilized. The bottom line is that politicians of all flavors are doing a poor job. The two major parties spend far more time trying to dig up dirt on the opposing party than they do working on meaningful legislation and, once elected, they pretty much forget their campaign promises.

The classic defining term for an economic depression is deflation which we have had. The government is trying to counter act this, time will tell if they actually succeed.

There is no doubt that DEFLATION will be effectively "countered". With all the paper money being printed willy-nilly ... INFLATION is going to kill us all!

So Bush failed because of Democrats obstruction? Hell no, Democrats in Congress supported him and he failed on his own. Can you spot the difference there? Probably not, because the wingnuts have no use for facts, logic or reason. Next you'll try to tell me that Kevin Bacon wasn't in Footloose... You realize that Obama is still trying to clean up the mess that Bush left behind... while trying to get his own agenda through congress. I'm not an Obama-infatuate, and at times I find him infuriatingly frustrating in his quest for 'compromise and bi-partisanship'... when everybody inside and outside of congress knows that's a pipe dream. I just keep reminding myself that this isn't a team sport, it's supposed to be OUR GOVERNMENT. Just because you're on the right, and I'm on the left doesn't mean we can't reach the same conclusion, we just have differing philosophies on how to get there. That's where the debate comes in. You don't just completely sabotage the process and then claim victory... that's idiotic, and isn't representing our best interests (on both sides).

Taxed to Death wrote: No more NAFTA I agree in that I think it needs to become fair. Free trade is a misnomer. It is not free. The only way it can be free is once it is fair and it will not be fair until all players are playing by the same rule sets. EPA, FDA, DOL, so on and so forth. Cheap labor and cheap goods are falsely assumed cheap. The truth is that pollution knows no political boundaries. The toxins manufacturers dump into waterways make it into ours no matter how distant the country of origin. The only reason goods from China (et al) appear cheap is because they are often allowed to pollute our environment at the cost of others. All "free trade" does is outsource ills such as pollution and slavery whereas Fair trade would help stop both. Hopefully what you favor is fair trade. If it helps with your xenophobia, note that fewer aliens would come here illegally if their country supported fair trade and had something like our Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

You got my vote...If I know anything, its that this is just the beginning and it will take serious effort and strength to make the future less destructive, not more.

We cannot even mind our own business, we want to pry into others with the thirst of blood. How can we be expected to help others when we cannot help ourselves. We live in produce desert, we have out grown our environment, for everybody to have luxury would take more than this planet can give. Unfortunately we are just slaves to the powers that control us, we have no real determination or influence on any real changes happening in power. We are told who the president is, we are told what the laws are, we are told how fast we can drive, we are told how much food cost, we are told how much gas costs...Want more? Reply to my post and ask... I could go on all day, but I am frequently accused of drug/alcohol fuled rants...haha....
