I have lived in Rector for three years now, and have enjoyed raising my kids here. I walk around our town for exercise, and am ashamed at what our City Hall lets accumalate in peoples yard.. do we not have rules and regulations? If we dont our town really needs to get some. I have heard people cut this town down for being a trashy town, well lets fix it.

8th street is the worst part of town, theres a trailer there that it is certain they have kids out playing in that yard that has so much dangerous junk in it. I know the water dept guys read the meters on that street and have to notice how terrible this street looks.

Its nothing personal, just its time to clean up and be proud of our town. Its time we stop letting others bad mouth us

City Hall do something about....the dogs running loose around this town. I know there is a leash law so....Why not enforce it for everyones protection? I've walked out my front door only to have a certain dog stand in my yard barking and growling at me....in my own yard. I heard over on 8th st. today someone was walking their dog on a leash and the black dog that runs the neighborhood attacked the small dog.

What gets me most about our town lately is the blatent disregard these kids have about littering. I know adults are just as guilty, but just about every time I go to Sonic for example, I see at least one vehicle of teenagers throw all of their trash onto the ground before they leave. The girl in the black car (I hope you read this and take the hint, b/c your mom almost got a call) even cleaned out every bit of the trash in her car and left it in a pile for the carhop to pick up. Things like this go far beyond laziness, it's plain disrespect. There is no reason for people to act like that.

This is to "wondering"
Do I have the right to want to see the town I choose to raise my children in cleaned up. Why should I go back to where I come from, what does that have to do with being concerned about our town. Sounds like you need to grow up or maybe you are on the part of 8th st. who knows, who cares, I however have the right to voice my option about whats going on in my hometown.
Thank you Wondering. And dont bother repling I want waste anymore of my time on someone who has such disregard of respect.

Rector has alot going for it, and I think if we as citizens in this town would care a little more about what happens in this town, it would not be known for a bad town.

Yes the dogs running around in Rector is also a big problem, as well as there are alot of cats. I think if you are going to own pets, take care of them. You dont have to keep them pinned up all the time, but make sure they arent around town, tearing down others trash cans.

When someone buys property they should have the right to do what they want with it. What if the people on 8th wanted the rest of us to paint our houses red becauae theyt hought red was prettier and safer? You should worry about what you own and let others wory about theirs...this isn't russia yet But the city is trying!

the whole town of rector looks terrible! no reason we have no industry here. bullingerville cleaned up their side of town better than those who lived in the nicer parts, after the storm. there are still areas that look terrible. people clean your yards, mow, pick up limbs , if you are having trouble doing that for yourself there are people for hire, cheap.. that will do it for you.
rector has nothing to offer to its residents accept a guarateed drive to shop, work and eat. the only thing left is to live here and when it becomes nasty and overlooked people will begin to leave, we cannot afford to lose more residents.

Guest from Bexar, AR. How can you compare the color of a house to trash in a yard, that kids play in everyday... Has nothing to do with the houses, I said nothing about the shape of the houses, I was referring to the yards, and how trashy they are allowed to be kept. I worry about mine that's why my yard stays mowed, I keep my ditch cleaned out so it doesnt flood the neighbors when it rains. I dont throw trash out in the front yard because am to lazy to walk to the trash can.
"This isnt Russia" boy that must have took you awhile to come up with. No your right, its not Russia, its our hometown me are talking about, and we should take pride in that....

I think he was trying to say "mind your own business and move if you don't like it". I was told recently that the speer deputy caught someone dumping buckets of human crap in their neighbors yard,at least you're not having that problem, are you?

What is the deal with you poeple. I wasnt hear bashing any one person. I like this town, and just get tired of hearing people tear it down all the time. I choose this town, bought my home, and decided to make my family apart of this town, it is my business. I pay tax as everyone does so I have the right to state my thoughts. So I am "minding my own business" its those residents like you guys who dont give a crap about things that go on in town as long as no one makes yougett off you lazy butts and clean up what is yours. Its a shame that we have to have someone say "hey clean up your yard" to begin with.
Maybe if you're the one who is getting crap in your yard, you should change your atittude because it goes right along with the crap thats being put in your yard!! Maybe you should choose a better neighborhood, like I did...before you get on bash me because am concerned about our town..

Yeah I thought it was a pretty funny story too! This person has a neighbor sneaking over and putting buckets of human crap in his yard....ha ha ..... that puts a whole new spin on "love thy neighbor"!! Maybe he should be a better neighbor.. it's plain to see by his comments he really doesnt care about his town.. guess he really doesnt give a "CRAP"!!!! but gets plenty of it!!!

It amazes me how some of you can turn things around and invent something out of thin air. I asked a police officer about this and he said the crap wasn't being put in a neighbors yard but on a business property. Some of you make things up and turn things around just to keep CRAP going.

We do have ordinances. I have lived here for 18 years. It seems to me things are just getting out of hand. I have been sent a letter for a vehicle unregisted in my yard. I wasn't offended, I just tagged and insured it. But my yard is always well maintained. I take pride in ownership. I agree with resident, CLEAN UP OUR TOWN!!!! Remember Beautify Rector? What happened?? On E. 6th they have chickens, it is ridiculous. Move to the country if you want to live in filth.

I think everyone should have to register, and if someone is saying derogatory things, then we should be able to report that single poster instead of all the posts he/she has posted. Then, once the user is banned, then all of the nasty remarks should automatically be deleted.

I couldn't agree more. Most of the gossip and lies on here would never be said if the cowards had to take responsibility for what came out of their mouths! The majority of the posts on here end up as nothing but a way for people to take out their spite while hiding behind a computer screen.

the chickens were probably here before most of us. i remember rector having hogs, horses, ducks, rabbits etc. i don't have any and don't want any but i say let people do what they want if they own it and move or don't buy/rent in the areas you don't like. if it keeps going the city will tell us what to wear/eat/drive. my neighbor has an old loud vehicle that looks bad and when i have company I'm hope-ing he won't come home while they are here so i guess i could ask the city to make him buy a new pretty one and also while they are at it make him put new siding on the house (Laugh)
