What a HUGH waste of money!!! Taxpayer's money!!! What more 99 cent stores? More JUNK to go with all the junk already there! Taxpayers who do not shop at Dollar General!!!!!!!!!!

Shuman should not get the money until he has companies, good quality stores not junk stores, already signing on the dotted line.

Another way for Reading to waste money!

This money should go to the LIBRARIES!

great, just what reading's urban landscape needs, another dollar store and another parking lot that wont' generate jobs.

Wow, yeah, that's real revitalization. If you aren't going to bring back the pride of the outlets, then leave it the hell alone and sell it to someone who will, because your crappy attempt at "revitalization" is just a way to get money and give back almost nothing in return.

Of course, he's going to be more expensive than the 5th street highway, even though that is prime commercial property, because he's going to charge the new tennants the cost of his loan interest and principle in their monthly rental fees and such.

Btw, how's that riverview development coming along there??? I haven't heard the word Giannesca in a while, no surprise there, most of his other projects have been flops, too...but Reading would be different, yeah, no chance of that happening to us.

Shuman the people who have lived in the Reading Outlet Center neighborhood "all along", are mostly NOT there anymore, because the elements of criminal activity that moved in there and peoples' hang ups over cultural and racial issues have led to turnover. So, the people you refer to, are not generally ones who have live there "all along". Then again, who cares about facts anymore right, it's all about sell, sell, sell and location, location, location, whatever Shuman.

What does HUGH have to do with this? He doesn't even live in Reading.

I can see why you're promoting libraries. You are obviously in need of a dictionary.

Talk about lipstick on a pig. How about we use some stimulus money to build a prison to house all of the downtown trash who are the real reason for why Reading is in such decay. Then maybe people from the outside areas would feel safe going to spend their money there.

I agree this is a waist of money. What has happened to the private sector? If someone wants to rehab the building and move into it, let them pay for it!!

So here goes another batch of taxpayer money that simply will be wasted on garbage. If the buildings are so valuable a private company would have picked them up and they would be functional. No instead the brains in our government will simply throw money into a black hole with zero return. The sad part is these morons will then look at the mess and not even take claim that they created it.

Almost corruption at best. The rich (Shuman) get even richer. Of course he doesn't live in RDG! Would you? I don't even go near there unless I absolutley have to. They are just wasting hard earned worker's and taxpayer's money on nothing. That money should be used for other USEFUL and NEEDED purposes.

You obviously do not live in Reading and give me a break for typing while I was angry. YOU know what I meant. Stop being so MEAN!!! You are the kind of person that loves to pick on people for a tiny mistake. Not a $7 Million mistake.

TOTALLY AGREE!!

Plus, Shuman will probably be skimming and pocketing some of that stimulus money. Shuman you should be careful what you say to people! We remember!

i would just like to know how many other American peoples pride is dwindling with every new, News article like this - telling us how irresponsible our politicians are wasting taxpayer dollars - it is never ending - nonstop, and will continue until "we the people" take a stand and demand changes from our elected officials (using that term loosely)- more like elected criminals!

Actually, Shuman DOES live in Reading and is one of the nicest guys you will meet. He gives back a lot to the community already and is responsible for bringing in a ton of businesses that pay taxes to the city already. And it isnt free money...it is a LOAN! He has to pay it back.

They could get one hell of a head start just by enforcing our immigration laws.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Virgo

Words are flying around in all directions today, and the conversations will be fast and furious. You might face a lot of distractions and interruptions, or you could get caught up in some rather irritable slanging matches with a certain person. The busier you are, the more fraught you'll become and the more likely to go off the deep end.
