Thought I would see how many people think the the Government is to blame for the corruption of today's children and why/why not. What would your suggestions be in helping the situation.

I think lazy parenting in large part is responsible for the corruption of children. The government has surely contributed to that but the problem begins at home.

I agree Parent but the government has limited the parent to what they can do as far as correcting a child. That's is what I think the problem is. The parents today kind of have their hands tied and I think they have just given up.

I don't think the gov't has limited the parent. The parent has chosen not to discipline. They equate love with material things and happiness. They do not realize the worst thing you can do for a child is set no boundaries and give them everything they want.

It is why many teachers want to leave the professison. Parents don't want to believe Johnny did such and such...and will not back the teacher. I have seen parents come in and pitch fits when their child was clearly in the wrong. What good does that do...are they going to follow them to college and through their careers cleaning up their messes and making things fair?

I totally agree with everything you said here and I am guilty of giving my son alot too. This is more because I want him to have more than I ever did as a kid because we were poor.
I have to think though that times have changed where the gov. & a child are concerned. I know of numerous times that either a grand child of mine or someone's child that I know have went to school with a bruise or cut and the school automatically thinks they are being abused and call DFS. While I also know that there are kids that are abused, not every bruise proves that, they are kids. I still get bruises and I'm 50 but it's not my wifes fault. It just makes it harder for the parent to discipline a child without getting involved with a State dept. and I think this scares some parents from correcting their child. JMHO

The youth of today is not corrupt. Our generation has views pushed upon them harder than any generation in myb eyes. Media is to blame, along with poor parenting for some. You could have perfect parents and still strugle in life. And as for the government, why does everyone blame the goverment for everything? You have responsiblitly as well.

. Has anyone ever thought that corporal punishment isn't the asnwer? I agree that a whippin or a slap on the wrist is needed at some time. I belive a strict grounding is best at first, maybe a scold. NEVER, whip your child without getting his or her view first, that causes more problems and makes them want to rebel more.

@MEO Bad behavior could be described in different ways. I may break a few laws here and there, but I seem to think if my self as a good citizen. I work and take care of my own expences, I have outstanding grades and have been on honor role my entire life, I have plans to attend college and join the United States military. I belive I was disiplined quite well.

I have to agree on this one. I firmly believe that a parent should actually be more involved with their children, try to understand them or even just conversate with them. We are all guilty of some sort of corrupt behavior either as a juvenile or as an adult.

I dont think its our youth that is corrupt. Its our society that is corrupt. Its not the government keeping parents from disciplining. The problem is that parents have not adapted to modern parenting. Basically, the days of paddling your child are over. I really get annoyed when people blame the parent or parents for their childs behavior. Sure alot of parents, could discipline their child, but at times even that is not good enough. Each child has their unique set of problems which requires different approaches

I don't think I could agree any more with your statement. Society is corrupt from changing so rapidly. Every generation seems to adapt faster and fastr to bigger and better things. Also, back to "whipping" your kids, things can get out of control and become borderline abuse as it has in my past and I'm sure some could agree. If they deserve a whipping, set them in solatary until you calm down to give them a firm whippin', and be sure to control it.

Yes abuse seems to be a big problem anymore. One thing that i have noticed with my children. Spanking does not work, especially with my youngest. He is three and swating him on the butt doesn work. Repition seems to work better with him. I have a problem with him getting into the cabinets. Inseated of swating him on the but, I just went out and bought some locks to keep him from getting into them problem solved. Point is simple. The youth of today have a voice and want to be heard and taken seriously, not referred to as inexperienced or that they need to grow up. That just pushes them further away. You should look up Social Strain. I would explain it but could be quite lenghty. Positive Reinforcement is another good subject or theory you should look up. Its quite interesting.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Cancer

The question of who and what you should believe is never far away today. Someone could easily mislead you, although it's a moot point whether they do this intentionally or not. Or there could be a communication glitch that means no one knows what's going on. Be very careful when handling money because there could be lots of silly mistakes, and if you're really unlucky there might also be some double-dealing too.
