PALMYRA, Ohio -- A Portage County man who serves in the Ohio Army National Guard is locked up behind bars, accused of murdering his fiance.

Ive known Mark ever since i moved to ohio 10 years ago and i will be the first to say i dont think he is the one who did this horrible deed . he is always the first to walk away from a arguement and has a pleasant personality . ive seen good times and bad times with him and this just doesnt sit right .

Well, Jay, I have to disagree with you. Listen to the 911 call on recordpub.com ... seriously, if he didn't do it, he was AWFUL CALM! Why did he call his mommy and wait for her to get there before calling 911? He was WAY too relaxed while talking with 911 operators. I don't care how long you've known him ... we never TRULY know someone 100%.
May justice be served for this terrible, terrible crime!!!!

Seriously Jay, Mark Mann is a piece of S@#$!!!. Always has been. I wonder if MOMMY will get him out of this one.....You must not know him. give me a break.

It is hard to believe that Mark Mann is innocent when his Brothers in Law Enforcement Community were so quick to arrest and charge Mann with the murder charge without fist stating that they are "questioning" someone close to the case or "a person of interest" IF there was a shred of reasonable doubt. The Authorities are, I’m sure, VERY confident that Mann did the crime.

It doesn't take long to establish if someone killed another in this fashion. Death by gunshot is sometimes tougher initially but hand to hand combat & death is rather easy to establish.

This is a REAL black eye for the U.S. Marshall’s Service....

i have known mark for years...dated my sister for 4 yrs...never had a problem with him...polite to us and my family...prayers go out to everyone involved..

This is 1 road away from my home - and i fear everyday that this lovely country area is going to be run with horror and thats exactly what happened - Our prayers are with the Anielski family- may samantha be layed to rest and given to gods angels

well to everyone who knows anything about mark will not listen to everything in the news. to say brothers in law enforcement means nothing and looking at the headlines are as usual not the whole deal since he was in the national guard not a U.S. Marshall . my prayers go out to both families and yes he sounded calm but if you know the family you would know he was in a state of shock and broke down shortly there after

So sad, but always remember that no matter where you live, there devil will always be there. The devil just do not pick out certin places. He is everywhere. All we can do is pray. My prayers to the family.

All I have to say is poor Samantha May God Rest Her Soul, she was a lovely and very nice young woman who did not deserve this. Lets hope justice come quickly.

To all you people who are just gonna say Mark did it without knowing ALL the facts are just stupid, and aggrivating! All your going by are what the news and media resources shows you! Just like with politics you mindless drones are just gonna eat everything the media feeds you from their hand! There are two sides to every story and I don't believe Mark did this! I have known and been very close to him since we were @ 8 years old, and we showed horses together in 4-H. I know him and his whole family very well and I feel for them. This country was built on allowing every person a FAIR and JUST trial, and he hasnt been tried yet! I know you're upset (that much is evident from your post) but you will present both yourself (and your friends) in a better light if you would proofread your post before posting. Aside from grammatical and spelling errors, using profanity only makes you look uneducated and base, which I'm sure you're not.

I don't know either of them but will say this, the loss of this young lady is tragic for both families and both families will never come to ease of this pain. For Samantha's Family, only those who have been through this could only understand your pain. My heart, hope and prayers go out to you all and hope someday you will be with your daughter again. For Mark's family also my Heart, hope and prayers go out to you. If he is guilty, I hope that he is punished to the fullest tent of the law and if he is innocent I hope that he can recover and maintain his life as he did before. But most of us has already decided that he is guilty and even if he didn't do it - most of society will still treat him as if he is guilty. So I wish that all involved will be able to find peace and may the pain fade away as the love you shared remains strong.

first suspect is always boyfriend, husband or x-husband then investigate from there.

Is this Mann fellow the only suspect? They better find another one just in case he isn't the guy. The lover is always the first suspect but you have to find another one. This always happens. If he gets found not guilty then they have to start all over. By that time its way to let to get a good lead. This is a small town matter I assume since I never heard of Palmyra. They better leave this one to the experts.

If you will please re-read my post, and consult a dictionary...I was not using the word "bias", but "base," as in..."not classical or refined; base language."

Again, excuse me for trying to help you come across as someone whose viewpoints should be taken seriously. I was not trying to mock you.

Thank you and I'm sorry if i seemed harsh in replying geauga county, but i feel strongly on this issue as Mark is a close friend. Also i should have proofread my comment but i just wanted to get it all down, and while i only saw one spelling error, there were a few grammatical errors. Thank you for trying to help!
