So does anyone one know if we are going to have a display this year? I heard they were collecting money, but never saw them with my own eyes.

Why would they need to collect money? They should have the fireworks that were meant for last years display and the money donated last year for this years. When they collect it can't be for that same years display. They cannot get the money and order them and get them in time for the display. I wonder what happened to the money and fireworks?

Why should citizens be burdened for dishing out additional money for a celebration of independence when our own city commission does not acknowledge the Constitution? Yes the first amendment means the right to bitch at your elected officials and they have to hear you . Of course Raton has a Texan who thinks he is some supreme being. Like I said, I never saw it with my own eyes.... Please make note of that again. It was pure hearsay, and I wasn't asking for political views. I have family coming to town to see the display, and SIMPLY wondered (with the fires, and lack of rain) if there was going to be a display this year or not. Unfortunately my actual question was not answered. But thanks for your political views. I think?

They didnt collect any money for the fireworks in 2011 because of the track fire....idiots!
