Officers, sergeant indicted in Saenz death

Full story: The Raton Range/STPNS

Two Raton police officers and a sergeant are scheduled to be in court Friday to each give his initial answer to a charge of involuntary manslaughter regarding the November 2007 death of a local man who died shortly after the two officers arrested him and were transporting him to jail. A Colfax County grand jury on Thursday issued indictments of each of the three policemen, finding that enough probable cause exists to initiate a case of involuntary manslaughter against each. Accused in the indictments are officers Nolberto Dominguez, 31, and Leonard Baca, 32, and Sgt. Chris Edmondson, 39. Dominguez and Baca were the arresting officers who dealt directly with 23-year-old Jesse Saenz the night he died - actually in the very early morning hours of Nov. 18, 2007 - while in police custody. Edmondson, a 17-year veteran of the Raton Police Department, was the supervising sergeant during the police shift when Saenz died. Dominguez has been with the department for three years and Baca for 12 years.

What a terriable society we have become when we punish those that put their lives on the line every day to protect our freedom, rights, lives, belongings. We have given the criminals more rights and power than the decent, lawbiding, working, productive members of communities.
Maybe the family can score a settlement, about like pouring hot coffee in your lap.

I think it is a great idea to have a fund raiser for the police officers, but we live in a small town that once word got out of a funder raiser for them, people would be in danger. I have been witness to events that should not have taken place because of the support people have shown towards police officers, house and cars vandilized, children harassed and pets killed. I live everyday wondering if people can really live safely in this town again. More people are putting alarms in their homes, buying and training dogs to be watch dogs, and even taking classes to carry guns. What has Raton become? These officers did their jobs and are trying to make this a better community for all, and now look they are being put on the chopping blocks for taking a man who broke the law by doing drugs off the streets. In todays world there are very few people that want to become police officers because off the higher dangers, with less rights then the criminal. Sad, very sad.

it is never too late for citizens to take back a town-when you see something fishy call it in. when citizen involvement runs high the crooks tend to dissapear.
leave your porch light on at night-get a bulb that gives you 60 watts for 15 watts cost. see a suspicious car cruising the area-write a description and license plate number-see a lot of different people going to a house at all hours of day and night report that. watch out for your neighbors home-ask them to do the same for you.
if you have elderly neighbors and you see out of state cars or what look like salesmen knocking on their doors-find an excuse to go visit and check out the visitors-they might be family-if they are they will welcome your help-if you think they are pulling something slimy ask the police to do a welfare check.if you see someone showing interest in a home while the owner is on vacation report that-if you see someone at a house and you know the owner is in the hospital or just died call it in. crooks mine obits looking for places to burgle

These men need medals.

I have learn from experience that those that dislike policemen are those that have been caught breaking the law.
Politically Correct has destroyed or country, it is reverse discrimination.
American citizen have less rights that those that invaded us.

You are the punk ass!!

The weak shall blame others, The strong shall carry the burden of responsibility. Jesse had the opportunity to live his life with respect to himself his family and to others he chose not to.
The police were forced to carry the burden of his lack of responsibility, now they are being judged by a weak judicial system (D.A- Grand Jury -Politicians)who would rather sacrifice the police than show the strength or courage to do their job responsibily. This great country was founded by strong couragous and responsible people, so i guess we all need to ask ourselves " WHO AM I "!!!

Burn,
Sounds like you dropped the soap the last time you were in. If you're a punk or a "gangsta" you probably don't like cops because of your low-life ways. A group of us law biding citizens are armed and we don't like scum like you and the creep that these fine men arrested. The s.o.b. had enough drugs in him to kill himself and he did. Good riddance! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy except maybe you dirtbag.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Scorpio

A loved one is extremely upset today, and you'll soon know all about it. Things are out of proportion, so a minor hitch becomes a huge drama that means you've got to drop everything in order to calm them down. Hey ho. At least it won't last long. If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you won't have as much patience as usual and nor will anyone else.
