Why exactly would RPV piss way tax money on this?

Great for the hill! If this was in Torrance, they would have made it a self storage lot. Green space is just a place for bugs to grow in the "balanced" city

Thats all that land is good for. It is not suitable for development. I don't live in Torrance, but they seem to have a lot of parks and don't they have the Madrona preserve by the mall? This one of the best uses of tax dollars I can think of! Great story! The area is one of the last big open spaces left in the South Bay. It's quiet and in full bloom right now.

I can think of several better ways to spend our tax dollars. Umm...how about researching alternative energy, fighting terrorism, fixing potholes, syncronizing traffic signals, busting rapists and murderers...I could go on all day.

Why couldn't they just use eminent domain like that always do?

Chef, you sound like a typical jaded, cranky, long-time complainer who is incapable of enjoying some good news about a nature preserve. You ever try getting out for a nice quiet walk up in the preserve. Might cheer you up.

I'm a frustrated liberal that is sick of seeing his government waste tax dollars on issues that could wait until the more important problems are dealt with. I'm not saying that the preserve isn't important, just not nearly as important as let's say...global warming.

This sounds like a fantastic idea! Nobody can build houses there anyway as they will just slide right in to the ocean. Make that awesome open space official!

We don't have as many potholes, traffic issues, terrorist, rapists or murderers to deal with in RPV, so why can't the city spend it on preserving nature?

We already do all of that in RPV!

Our next project should be to build a fence around the San Pedro side of Rancho Palos Verdes to keep the trash out.

Um, would you be referring to the former site of the dairy farms, the hill that the PV communies sit on - San Pedro Hill? And would that fence keep you off Western Avenue? We are all on the same peninsula, pal, so maybe you had better learn to get along.
