Here's a few others:

- Person comes to front door selling something, asking for something, etc. You are cautious and don't open your front door. However, person's buddy has snuck in your (open) back door and is now robbing your house while you're preoccupied with person at front door. Solution - lock your back door at all times.

- 30-something man approaches 50-something woman in mall and comes on to her. She's flattered and leaves the mall with him. Man and friends then rob woman, steal her car, kill her, etc. Solution - don't run off with some dude you just met at the mall.

- About the telemarketers - just don't listen to them. Adopt a strict policy of not buying over the phone. After all, why should you enter the negotiation cold while the telemarketer is fully prepared?

It is ironic that on page 12 of the hard cover edition of the Press Telegram is an article describing ongoing efforts of our corrupt city council to run the shake-down scam directed at the old folks and other hard working overburdened taxpayers who smoke tobacco. On the adjacent page 13 is a box entitled "How to avoid the scammers".

Where are they sending these checks?
Over seas? Locally? Some teller somewhere had to verify where that check came from, who wrote it, who is cashing it etc. "Slim chances of getting your money back" MY @SS.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Virgo

Have a think about your health today. How are you shaping up? Are all those mince pies and sausage rolls already taking their toll on your waistline? Is it ages since you last went to the gym? Then this is your chance to start making some improvements. Don't plan anything drastic or unrealistic because you'll soon lose heart. Instead, devise a sensible regime that you can stick to.
