The bridge he had jumped off of was the site of many suicides, and also connects Los Angeles with the San Pedro docks. I've also seen it on an old episode of 'CHiPs' where these guys were jewelry thieves. I had a feeling he ended his life because there is a story that he had brain cancer. I know how his family feels, because my brother had terminal lymphoma and he just couldn't have us watch him turn into mush. My sympathies to his family.
