Occasionally, some of my students ask me questions about illegal drugs. I usually point to a newe item about something like this and use it as both a reading lesson and a life lesson. The gist of my message is, "The answer to your question is in the article. See what has happened?" When I suspect that the student's curiosity may lead to experimentation, then I inform the parents. I also take the time to point out that many good people make bad decisions. We are all influenced by the company we keep, so it is best to choose good friends wisely. What happened to Miranda was a tragedy no matter how one looks at it, and the man who negatively influenced her personal choices and blocked necessary medical intervention will get what he deserves. But he was a young, sensetive, caring, funny guy who had hundreds of friends and a family that loved him more than anything. Corona, I'm not saying Andrew murdered Cameron but his story has some flaws. He told me that coke incident happened in the backseat of the car and told my husband it happened in a bathroom at Stateline. He also told us they hurried down to Baker yet the police report said Cam had been dead 45 minutes. They were only 10 minutes out of Baker. It was origionally transferred to homicide. I spoke to to homicide detective he said the coroner said he hadn't been dead as long as origionally thought but when I read the coroner's report he didn't mention it. Also, my husband worked for the County at that time and we knew first-hand how inept they are concerning specifics. The report was dated the day before he died when they were still in Vegas. Those kinds of mistakes are crucial in a legal matter and if they can't get the date right what else have they gotten wrong.I spoke to my nephew who is a paramedic and he said anytime they talk about lividity the person has been dead a long time. There was lividity mentioned in the police report. We will never know what really happened to Cameron but if Andrew either put the coke in his beer or he and whoever was in the front seat didn't get him help in time he will pay for both Cam and Miranda with this trial. Were you the one with your boyfriend in the front seat? If you were please talk to us. Donna, corona won't speak up -she hides behind screen name- as for girvan and the others in the car that day? yes, they should be held accountable, too many changing stories, from what the reports say and what andrew himself said about that day. it's going to be investigated Donna, even if we must do it ourselves. My heart aches for everyone involved in this tragic circle. For those who have been hurt and those who cannot even tell the difference between right and wrong. Justice will prevail. It has to.

I cannot concieve that those two men won't pay for Miranda's death and Cameron's death. I just don't understand why Chad isn't there also. He is the major dealer. He is the one that gave out the drugs. Isn't he culpable? I know he loved Cam and probably Miranda but he had to know he was supplying death to his friends. His dad died of an overdose. How could both the Girvan boys have anything to do with drugs after losing a father to them. Debbe, I know our kids are together watching and waiting for justice. I carry Miranda's button in my purse and hold it sometimes to feel close to her. I wish I had known her in life.

donna I wasn't there the night your son died. I was told he tried to use a key to do some coke as he was doing that he spilt his beer in the bag of coke.. Drew told him to throw it away and instead he drank it. That's what I was told.

wondering why

why was that not told to the police? anyone with informtion should go forward to the police and let them decide what is important to the case. it's a matter of human priniciples and moral duty to others. the police really botched that investigation

Corona...Thank you for answering. It helps me to know Andrew didn't purposely kill Cameron. I do think he and the others covered their tracks with the drugs and alcohol before they got him help. According to the homicide detective if they had gotten him a shot of adrynalen(?)within 20 minutes he would be alive today. It was feasable to do so. They should have been in Baker within 10 minutes. They passed up a fire station on the way in. Chad and Andrew seemed so broken up over Cameron's death it was hard for me to think that anything could be wrong. There were a lot of rumors going around so my friend and I drove the route. Both our cell phones worked the whole way and we found the place they described the seizure happened. You could pretty much see the lights of Baker from there. Then when Miranda died and Debbe and I met all kinds of things started going through my head. I have come to the conclusion nobody will ever know what happened up there and I have to accept that. I do think that SB County, the Coroners office, and the Barstow Sheriffs did a shoddy job of investigating. Corona, thank you again for writing back.
