Death in Houtzdale Prison

My Husband to be died in Houtzdale Prison on Feb.7,2006. I had talked too him on Feb. 3,2006, and he never saided he was sick. My name and number was on file, so he could call out to me.I sent him a letter off that sat, and it came back too me all mark up with deceased on the corner with the date.His name, Kevin D. Colzie#am7062. I wanna know what happen that he died sudden and I wasn't called or a formal letter..My email addy is Ladyscorpioellen@aol.com

How sad - I hope you find out what happened. I would be calling everyone I could to try to get to the bottom of this.

Found out from a con that he was beaten to death, sorry for your loss, as he was your "husband to be" they have no need to notify you as you are not family, they notified his next of kin, and apparently you were not important enough for them to tell you

is that how they notify someone of a death? Have you contacted the PA Prison Society? If it were my fried/relative i would lose my mind. Your strength is admirable.

I understand that your comment was almost a year ago, but when I read this i thought that was very rude. I know that people can be this way but when it comes to someone's loved one whether they were married yet or not, doesnt mean you have to be rude and nasty. I understand that they didn't have to notify her but the nice thing to do as humans is to let anyone know who was on the list to see him. Think how you would feel if this happened to you.(I hoope it doesn't) I am sorry for her that sh ehad to find out that way you should too.

I have a son who is confined at houtzdale for a
very long time.He has been complaining to the
prison about constant pains in his jaw neck and
head.He seems to think ,as we do that these pains
were caused by the medicine only to be told that there is nothing wrong with him. My wife and I came up to see him, all the way from Philadelphia.
From what we saw of him was not good. His tounge
was dangling in and out of his mouth, his speach
was distorted and his neck muscles were tight.
He also tells us,that he has to pay to go to the
infirmary.I do not know who or what agency to
contact about his situation.If you have any
information
any help will be appreciated

In regards to the past comment with ur son not feeling well the next step is to speak to the captain this jail is is pain but I have gotten my situations fixed thorugh the captain. Hope this will help.

Dude thats exactly the character of the people round here. Its scary....it really is. It took me moving away for a long time to get it out of my system but now I see it very vividly. I'm so beyond this place its rediculous but I'm smarter now and won't regress back into that mentality again.

Unless you were wrongfully accused...Calling someone that that works in any prison or jail redneck morons is absurd. YOU my friend are the incompetant one, obviously, if you spent time in some pace like this YOU obviously did something wrong or put yourself in the place to be "suspected" of doing something wrong. Really...props to those who can live day in and day out dealing with people who make bad enough decisions to get themselves to the point where tax dollars provide for them.=)/endrant

Im sorry to hear about ur loss ,my heart goes out to you & ur family.. i just dont understand why people are so mean. I belive in treating people the way you want them to treat you. Mean & Angry people need a hug. My future husband is in there & every night i pray that he comes home & that he is safe while hes in there...continue to stay STRONG..

I spent 7 years in this place and they are not worried about the inmate. They do not care what happens to them.It is sad but if you have a loved one in Houtzdale try to keep in touch.This place is hell on earth

not all co's are like that. there are a few that have a heart. expecially my favorite! she is very fair and treats everyone with respect no matter what they are in there for. good looking to but very professional and kind. she is always giving advice but i think she has got herself introuble for talking to us. i spent a few years there and i was miserable until she and one other came along and gave me a new outlook. she wished me luck and told me to get my shit together, i am trying.
