? about Houtzdale prison

Is is true that everyone in there is getting an extra six months for a crime that an ex-inmate did. My brother was do to get out in December. I need to know whats going on. Thanks!

I highly doubt it. That doesn't sound legal.

the new info. is that gov. rendell lifted the parole on the non violent offenders only, and that the hold is still on and under investigation for the violent offenders. Hopefully things will go back to normal soon. My son too will come up for release in Dec. if his parole is granted. He did meet with the parole board, but is waiting for the GREEN sheet and Rendell's decision on the violent offenders..Hopefully God will be their judge and not some man who might not be having a good day himself...

I just visited houtzdale prison yesterday ( nov. 10th ) I was told by the C.O. that NO one has been released from there as of yet not even the non- violent offenders that have their green sheets and were avaiting release pending the lifting that Rendell impended..I was told that the counselors and the unit managers were being moved out of their offices to make dorms for the inmates because of overcrouding..WHY AREN'T THE PRISON RELEASING THE INMATES AS THEY WERE INSTRUCTED??? IS IT THAT THEY ARE NOT INFORMED AND UP TO DATE WITH THE NEWS...WHATS UP??? COME ON PRISON EMPLOYEES DO YOUR JOB AND FILL OUT YOUR NECESSARY PAAPERWORK TO RELEASE OUR LOVED ONES THAT HAVE EARNED THEIR FREEDOM...

i can uderstand holding inmates who has been charged with a violent crime because it makes no sence to rob, kill, and hurt people. but to those who are in for drug cases ect. ect. iI think they should be given another chance to start over and try to make money leagally. So I think that the govener made a good decicion, but they have to let the those who have non-violent cases go home as scheduled because the prisons are over crowding and that can cause problems, where as though inmates can start to provoke problems which cam lead to an non violent inmate to commit a violent crime while incarserated, and it could be a case where they were just protecting theirselves.So i just hope they let those go home who is suppose to be,if they are an non violent case.

we are currently waiting for on of ours to come home to. he was transfered there and supose to be out last month on the 16th but no word yet. we just hope hes ok.

hey big sis, hope things went well for your brother. i have a friend of mine who lives in n.ken and is also in houtzdale. i think he goes before the board in march.

hey big sis, hope all went well for your brother. i have a good friend there who also lives in new ken. he is supposed to go before the board in march i believe.

well my babe was suppose to be free back in oct they still haven't let him loose...i spoke to him and asked y....he claims they have to put them in some sort of catergories now....so who knows u know how the gov works....shoot we all want our loved ones home prison isnt for no one but there is a process unfourtantely....so hold on ya'll they'll be released soon...in gods will there is a way....

Kelly - Arrived for a visit Mon morning from 2 1/2 hrs away, only to be told that they have been on lock-down since Friday. Any news on why, or how long it will last. Do you think we'll be able to visit Thurs? Are they not allowed phone calls during lock down. Missing my fiance --- Linda

yeah there was a fight on thursday and someone got really hurt thats y they are lockdown until today so i dont know if they have visit on thursday i hope this helps u a little

linda the lockdown is over at least for now and no they cant have visits or calls next time call before you go to avoid that situation again good luck

Thanks Maggie and Kelly. I'll def start doing the "call ahead" thing. My guy did get to call last night. He said it was "gang wars," and they had to make sure all who might continue the fights were "in the hole." We suffer right along with them, when these things happen ----- Linda

well the lock down was lifted.... my baby called home last night!!! i had no idea there had been a fight lol i have been sitting here mad at him for not calling all weekend. i dont know if they can deny visits on thursday but i am heading up there on sunday, if the lock down is lifted i am sure visits are ok again

of course the fight was gang related ~ they are in prison and the gangs run all ~ its scary from what i have seen it makes the men more feared but the cos watch them so much closer ~
