Sept 11 2009 Officer Kuhn has taken it upon himself to invade private property where he had no offical business being, he was not dispatched to the location. Officer Kuhn took it upon himself to open fire with FIVE ROUNDS, three which struck and killed a champion show dog that was not showing any signs of aggression. This was an act of rage and an overkill. The dog was under total control and supervision of her owner. Officer Kuhn's defense will be that he felt his life was in danger, I'm sure. That is his easy way out. TRUTH Is that officer Kuhn is an unstable police officer that murdered a prized show dog which was well socialized with people but more importantly she was a beloved family member. Where is the media in a situation such as this, a Pit Bull Attack.. Media frenzy. Where is it?

Was this the shooting that occured off of Cosmic in Temecula? What type of dog was it? We drove by after it happened and saw 2 unmarked patrol cars - was this the same band of bothers that was suppose to be disbanded for raiding the wrong house a couple of years ago. The Special Enforcement Team or I think they're called the Gestapo - dressed and armed as if they're invading Poland.

Dakota was a highly valuable UKC champion American Pit Bull Terrier, she was irreplaceable.
She was well socialized and loved people, there was not a mean bone in her body. She always ran up to people to greet them and give kisses, she was a people lover.
Officer Kuhn had a panic attack and blasted the innocent dog to pieces. There is no excuse for what Officer Kuhn did, NONE.

Yes this was off of cosmic and north star court in starlight ridge. Not only did he fire 5 rounds at the Champion show dog he did it while the owner and her son were within 10 feet of the rounds. Where is the media? Why did officer Kuhn yell don't move when they attempted to get their dog in the house? So he can murder her right in front of the neighborhood?

Was the dog leashed? If I had a Pit Bull running towards me, I'm afraid I would have done the same. Also, it's Deputy not officer - Temecula does not have its own police department, it subcontracts with RSO.

the officer shot to kill. he shot 5-7 rounds in a residential neighborhood. i'm not sure if all rounds hit the dog but he put all the residents of my community in jeopardy for his reckless actions. i didn't see what happened before the shooting but i saw it seconds after he shot the animal. what i saw was pretty disburting. Kota was about 20ft away and staggering to stay alive! this deputy kuhn was so matter of fact about the incident and just stood there like nothing happened. i can pretty much hear everything in the cul de sac and before the shots rang out, there was no commotion that i had heard. i know these cops have been to that house several times for reasons i'm not aware of. i also know that this lady has been harrassed several times for her dogs but she has been very good about keeping her dogs locked up. the worse part about it was having to explain to my 11 year old why they did that because Dakota was a great dog.

This dog was a UKC registered American Pit Bull Terrier - not a "pit bull" - please do your research.
This IS about a DOG that was on her own private property that was blown to pieces by some cop that was out out of control. If this was a "Pit Bull" attack, the PD would of reported this to the media and they have not. Truth is the PD wants this to be a HUSH incident because they KNOW they did wrong.

Dakota belonged to my good friend and was not a vicious dog at all!!!! My friend called me crying uncontrollably not knowing what to do. Unfortunately I was out of town at a dog show and couldn't go be there with her. This is wrong what this so called officer did to Dakota and her family. Dakota was more like her child then her pet and it's wrong that Kuhn can just go around bullying people because he wears a badge and nothing better to do with his life. Idiots that say pits are natural born killers have never even seen one in person and believe the blown up media hype that this breed is no good. I know so many people that have pit bulls and have yet to come across one that has ever attached a person. I hope the media takes the time to write up an article about what this corrupt cop did and I hope he is charged and loses his badge and weapon so he never kills again.

Dakota was a great dog. I've never been a big fan of that breed but this dog was always friendly and my son loved that dog. Dakota could always be seen chasing around the water from hose in her yard but never left the grassy area unless she was with her owner. She was well trained and always did what her owners commanded. This dog was doing what it was supposed to do and protect her property.

Karen do you know or have a # people call so that something is done about this. I have 1000's of UKC & ABKC friends that I'm sure would like to see something done about this and will call to complain about this situation. Thanks,

I'm not certain who to contact in order to file a complaint.
And to "Leashed or not" who said the dog was running towards Kuhn? Please dont take my statements out of context, "She always ran up to people to greet them and give kisses, she was a people lover" This was stated as an expression of how much she loved people - this does not mean she ran towards Kuhn!
Dakota was near her owner and her son, which was some distance away from Kuhn when he opened fire. Not sure how many rounds missed.

Lee wrote: Temecula has a police department it is on Auld road. What are you talking about? Lee - The Riverside County Sheriffs department contracts with the city of Temecula. Temecula does not have its own PD. RSO is known to shoot first and ask questions later. They have a higher OIS rate then even Los Angeles County. I am truely sorry for your loss - no officer should fire his weapon 5 times at an animal in close quarters to children!! If it were an armed suspect that would be a different story. He knows or should know that his rounds will richocet off the sidewalk and potentially injure or kill an innocent. If you're from that neighborhood, call the Watch Commander an lodge a compliant against this deputy. All you lives were put in danger by his actions...

Karen, Try the ACLU first then see if you can get in touch with animal rights and let me know if you need a statement to be made. I don't know how much progress you are going to make by filing w/ the local authoriities. Try the local animal rights activist office to see if there are any charges that can be brought against this Deputy Gunslinger.

This dog ran behind her owner whike her owners son was sitting on grass being harassed by Kuhn. She proceeded to her son and they opened fire YELLING TO HER 19 YR OLD DON'T MOVE...Why did he not give a chance for these responsible owners to attend to their dog? If the dog has an electrical collar and fencing in her yard it WAS PERFECTLY LEGAL FOR HER TO BE OUTSIDE WITHOUT A LEASH ON HER OWN PROPERTY...HELLO.....SINCE WHEN CAN'T WE SIT IN R YARD AND SEE A LOVED ANIMAL MURDERED AND PEOPLE INNOCENTLY HARMED by temecula pd,

5 shots and hit the dog 3 times? I wonder where the other 2 bullets are flying around? Thankfully, the strays didn't hit anyone. i see so many kids & family walking up and down Cosmic daily at all hours of the day. What the hell are you thinking Deputy Kuhn? Let's keep the thread on this forum alive so it doesn't happen again!

People - The ACLU isn't going to help. The last I checked Dog's don't have Civil Liberties!! If there were truely people within feet of this animal, your best bet is to lodge a complaint against the deputy for negligent discharge of a firearm. If the risk he posed was greater then the risk the dog posed, he will have to answer for it.

The dog may not have had civil liberties but her owner does. Regardless, I'm curious to know what this Deputy Kuhn has on his personel files. I wonder OIS' he's had on record.

This cop was NOT IN UNIFORM... THE OWNER WALKED OUT INTO HER FRONT YARD AND HER DOG FOLLOWED HER. All we saw was officer walk up to her son. Who was sitting 50 feet into her yard smoking a cigarette on his lawn. Next thing we see was officer Kuhn open fire with her and her son less than 10 feet away. THIS POOR FAMILY SEEING A BELOVED DOG MURDERED FOR NO REASON. Officer kuhn nor his partner attended to the owner or her dog not even once.

they were in unmarked cars wearing bullet proof vests from the moment i saw them, which was no more than 3 seconds after the last shot was fired. it makes you wonder if they prepared to come to the house and harrass that family. after shooting to kill, kuhn and his partner just stood there, doing nothing. the owner had to bring her dog to the vet herself because the cops did nothing after the fact. this is just a disgusting act of someone in power!
