As long as this event is done before the Chargers game.

Please... it was a dog. Collect $3.00 and go get another dog if you feel so strong about the cop shooting a threat. You people really need to be concerned about other things more important. There are so many kids in Temecula that could use your thoughts and prayers, dont waste them on a dog that threatened a cop who protected himself.

Oh my gosh, you people can't be serious. Talk to Dakota's neighbors. They were terrified of Dakot and the other vicious dogs at that house.
And for those who don't know, there is a long history of case law that makes it very clear that your front yard is not 'private property' unless you put a fence around it. With this in mind, the cops, or anyone else, can come onto your front yard without any reason. And your vicious pit bull comes running at them aggressively, they can shoot it.

There's two sides to every story don't just write the stuff in your favor. There's obviously some history going on there.

Pit Bulls still remain #1 on the bite list ("A pit bull is a fearless dog that will take on any opponent. They will lock their jaws onto the prey until it's dead. Pit bulls have a reputation of mauling people to death and they are highly sought for dog fighting.")

This is probably not the case with a family show dog but yes they do have a very bad reputation! An officer does not have to wait to see if he will get bit first before protecting himself. Sorry for your loss.

According to the other side;

"Lt. Charlie Wilhite said authorities have been called out to the Chiaese home at least 20 times in recent years over complaints about pit bulls there.

On Friday, Chiaese's son, Corbin, was sitting on the front lawn of the family home on North Star Court, a cul de sac near Rancho California Road and Cosmic Drive, after 7 p.m. when plainclothes officers from the Temecula Police Department's Special Enforcement Team saw him and stopped to speak with him.

The officers, whose job includes monitoring parolees, got out of their car and approached her son. While Chiaese was walking across the lawn to see what was going on, her mother opened the front door and Dakota, a 5-year-old pit bull, escaped.

Before the family had a chance to restrain the dog or call her off, Dakota had come within a few feet of one of the officers, who pulled out his gun and shot her."

He said the officers were familiar with the family and their dogs because they had recently served a search warrant at the home.

Wilhite said, "I think the history of these pet owners speaks volumes about what did or did not occur,".

Willa Bagwell, director of Animal Friends of the Valleys, which provides animal control services for Temecula, said her organization tried to have Chiaese's dogs taken away several months ago because there had been so many problems.

"We've been extremely concerned about these dogs," Bagwell said.

Wrong! The cops have power and weapons and misuse both. Temecula PD and RSD are probably two of the most racist pig hangouts in the United States. And yes, I use pig in it's most insulting manner. These are not people dedicated to protect and serve. These are PIGS. I now understand how the association was made. Thank you TPD and RSD!
There are only 2 sides if PE and cops want there to be. Otherwise, they are servents of cheney. Lies will be backed by many and their rein of terror will continue.

I am sick of hearing RSO and Tempecula PD being used as if they're two seperate entitties. Temecula does not have it's own PD. Temecula contracts with the RSO for its police protection. Don't be fooled by the police cars or the badges, just look at the badge of the "police chief" of Temecula. Come on people, it's about Temecula with all its wealth pulling together to get its own PD!!!

I'm curious, has anyone asked the owner of the dog when she showed it last? She claims it is a show dog, so how often does she show it? Also, I looked her up on the Riverside County Superior Court website and it shows that Staci and her beloved son both have criminal cases pending. I can't help but guess by the nature of the cases against her son that he has a dug problem. If we all do a little bit of research on the owners of this dog it starts to look like the cops had a reason for being there and Staci appears to be painting a picture of her beloved pet that is just not true. I was shocked when I spoke to Animal Friends of the Valley, they have some very enlightening experience with this family and their dogs. I encourage all of the reader here to call them and ask about documented history of these dogs.

Please leave our ducks alone. Between you and the teabaggers, our ducks are moving to better neighborhoods. Even they are sick of you all!

When determining "sides" consider who is telling the story. Postal employees are given pepper spray to protect themselves from dogs. If a gun was needed, I am sure they would have that. The question, why were five rounds needed ( some as the dog ran away) when pepper spray would have done the job. Consider any time a weapon is fired, ricochets can hit a innocent person. If the threat was so great, why did only one officer do the shooting. This time it was a dog.

"It's just a dog - get over it."
I'm curious if that poster ever had a dog. If so, they'd understand how much pain there is when taken away, especially so early and so suddenly... and how long it can last. I was fortunate - my dog was killed at 8 months old, but I didn't witness it. Also if you deal with the owners, there is a picture of blood still on the pavement they have to see reminding them of what happened. As if the memories aren't bad enough.
I'm sure there are two sides, BUT, police sure seem to be using the extreme before taking steps. They jump the gun... literally. Don't get me wrong, I usually respect cops. But I believe this may have been a bit much.
No dog can "Replace" Dakota. And if you actually SPEAK to the neighbours, they seem to think the opposite - they loved Dakota, and there are pictures of Dakota loving everyone she meets. It makes this story even more heart-wrenching.
Get rid of the officer and that will be that, for now. Evidence seems to be pointing now that he had a "panic attack" since he previously has been bit by a dog. But shooting 5 rounds and missing 2... who knows what else Mr. Kuhn could have hit?

Really I love how people can make the judgement that it was excessive force when they weren't there.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aquarius

If you're still happily munching chocolates and all sorts of other goodies, you'll have to take yourself in hand at some point during the coming fortnight. Maybe you'll have to compensate for all the festive over-eating by taking more exercise or cutting back on the calories, or perhaps you'll decide that you can't delay giving up smoking any longer. As Mercury turns in your twelfth house of secrets, messages you receive at this time may be very subtle or contain hidden meanings meant only for your understanding.
