When I traveled through Kenosha it didn't seem like a high crime city like you think of when you think of inner city crime. But traveling through can be decieving in that you don't get a peak under the table until you live there. I once thought of living there but havn'e finished school yet. What do other people think?

Bob,

Please elaborate, I would love to hear why you think Kenosha is a "pisshole". You see my family has lived here for over 70 years and we love this place. I have traveled to almost every state in our great country and i would live no place but here. Granted it was a much better place to live before all the FIB's moved up here.

To answer your completely ridiculous question Megan, Kenosha is like any other city it has its good spots and its bad spots. There are very few spots in town i wouldnt walk through, if you want to see a ghetto city then goto Racine to the north or the Zion or Waukegan to the south.

Im sure there could have been a better way to phrase such a question without offending such as, "What is Kenosha really like?"

The FIB's HAVE ruined this whole corner of the state.

Yeah, there are mostly good areas, but that should be expected of any town and the bad areas stick in a person's mind more.

That whole area bordered by 60th/ 39th/ Sheridan and 45th, is pretty much a PISSHOLE.

Well Bob from Phoenix, I've travelled to your town and parts of it could also be considered a 'piss hole' only in Phoenix's case, just a hotter 'piss hole'. There are good and bad areas in every town in the United States so to refer to another town as a 'piss hole' just tells me exactly which area of Phoenix YOU'RE from!

Kenosha is in a great location. Along Lake Michigan & between Chicago & Milwaukee. It has something for everyone. Great access to the Arts, Museums, Botanical Gardens, Prof Sports, etc. It is in an area for all seasons. Winter offers close downhill skiing & great cross country sking. Summer offers Lake Michigan & all its wonders. We have (3) college campuses - Parkside, Carthage & GTI. Yes, Megan, I think you would enjoy Kenosha as I have. I am a life time resident. I've done my fair share of travel but keep coming back to Kenosha. Love it.

Its amazing how many folks hate FIB's yet love the tax money we pump into Kenosha as we invest here.

Enjoy your school books, music, art, streets and everything else our taxes pay for sweetheart. Oh I forgot, we could have stayed in Illinois and spent our money there.

Maybe we will go back and let this place return to normal.

We do not love your tax money or anything about FIB's. Why did you move up here in the first place? Is it possible you hate FIBLANDIA? We did not want Kenosha to have 6500000 strip malls, we did not want Kenosha to have a building development everywhere we look.

Your taxes didnt build kenosha, believe it or not we had school books, music, arts and even streets well before you FIB's started flooding into our state because you cant stand the one you come from. I would rather have the mexicans move up here since they at least know howto socialize. Take that FIB of a mayor back with ya.

Wow Megan. Bet you are sorry you asked. Seems like a lot of love going on. There are issues everywhere you go. Kenosha is a great town.

It sounds to me like Kenosha is becoming more like Racine. In other words a hell-hole. My question is this: What is to stop Kenosha from becoming like Racine?

How did you come to this ridiculous conclusion Lee? What exactly have you heard that would lead you to such an assumption? Kenosha is a wonderful place to live, i have lived here my entire life as well as a couple generations of my family. We have nice parks, great golf courses, excellent restaurants and the lake front is being rebuilt. There are very few places in Kenosha that i would not get of out of my car walk same as any city of its size. The only problem is the influx of people into Kenosha, we do not have the road infrastructure to support to much of a larger population.

Even tho the Kenosha from when i was a child no longer exists it is still a great place to live, to say that it is becoming more like the bunghole of Wisconsin is very insulting. There are very few places in Racine that i would get out of my car and walk around, if you have been through either town you would know this for yourself.

I guess this a good place to ask this question. I am planning a trip to the Kenosha area the first of April and am hoping someone knows of a good motel in the area to stay. Thank you in advance

Holiday Inn Express. HWY50 E. of I-94.

Lots of nearby resturants and no bar on the premises for the local dirtbags to hang out in.

Best Western Harbor Side is right on Lake Michigan. Great area for walking, biking, trolly rides, many upscale & diner type restaurants, several coffee shops, museums, antiques, etc. Lake front can't be beat. You won't be disapointed with the area.

Honey, dont kid yourself....yes your tax dollars have put up some very substandard overpriced pieces of crap, like White Caps Homes. But realisically...I have lived in Kenosha most of my life and have seen the expansion prior to the influx of flatlanders running for our boarders. Kenosha realized long ago (unlike Racine) that their economy was changing and that we were no longer a manufacturing town. So the only thing Illinois has provided us, is 1. Crappy drivers, 2. Overpriced substandard homes. 3. Inflated property taxes. But in the end, what it all amounts to is that Kenosha is an attractive city. We have some great schools, wonderful restaurants, a beautifully developed lakefront (that has a great balance of business and beach) and just a general ease of living that not many cities can boast. And that is the reason that most people choose to stay here.

try a cheaper one but still a nice one because a lot of people don't have the money for a room in the Holiday Inn. Something in between the King and Holiday Inn would be about right for a working person.

When I go to Kenosha I see more and more of the Racine type people that make it what it is--the back hole of wisconsin. Anyway, What you say doesn't explain how Kenosha is going to keep from becoming like Racine since the people that make Racine a bunghole have every right to fair housing and everything else in Kenosha as they do in Racine. Don't get me wrong though, I hope Kenosha hangs on and doesn't go down the tubes like Racine did.

I wonder the same thing. But then I go downtown Racine and all buildings are stores in operation etc. Maybe there are some good neighborhoods in Racine that I don't know of. But back to Lee's argument--I don't see how Kenosha can hang on for long being near Racine, Chicago, and Milwaukee. Even towns way up north like Appleton are getting Raacine type people that are slowly turning it into a not-so-nice town. But its still nice there though.

Why can't we clean house. You know what I mean. People without proper paperwork to stay should go back.
