Gay Wisconsin Teen Nominated For Prom Queen

Of course the Racine Unified School District wouldn't discuss this issue. They don't want any more attention called to this issue because they are afraid of the reaction and because they truly don't know how to handle the situation, so rather than face it, they choose to hide. Discrimination comes in many forms, and this is one of them. The best way to deal with a situation is to walk through it and figure it out to the end result. Will the Racine Unified School District see this through to the end? I doubt it.

The Kids picked him, and unless there was a rule already in place then the school should just stay out of it..... NEXT YEAR they can do the discrimination thing, if they want to post that kind of rule.

Students show solidarity and acceptance instead of homophobia, and an ignorant principal shoots it down. What kind of message are we sending to our kids about tolerance?

I'm an openly gay man and I must protest the idea of a man as a high school prom queen - it's just plain wrong. Prom queens, homecoming queens, etc. should be for real women and not gay males that dress-up as drag queens. I'm for equal rights for gay people - I'm one of them - but this is just too politically correct.

I think it is great that the students nominated him for prom queen. Instead of being homophobic they accept him for who he is. Great! I am a fag hag and have been one for over 17 years, homosexuals are people too just like the rest of us, I think that it is about time that discrimination towards them ends. Good for the school district! These kids are (knowingly or not) mocking the school's tradition. When will the term, "Queen", have its true meaning again?

Girls are being permited to join the football squad and the wrestling team and even entrance into all male Military schools.

Hes gay but he is still a man and shouldnt be able to have the prom queen title. If he identified as a transgender or female, then it would be ok for him to have the title. Him being gay doesnt make him a women, he is still a man. People need to learn more about the GLQBT before making dump decisions.

Such nonsense! This is not a Gay or Straight issue. A man cannot compete in the Miss America pageant nor can a woman compete in the Mr. Universe competition. This idiot should simply be ignored.

This gay stuff is really getting ridicoulous and im sick of it. Today I have to listen to gay boss talk about a surgecial procedure he had last week because his colon is all messed up from having anal sex. He cant even go the bathroom to poop because he is all messed up back there. This is sickening. We need to stop accepting things that we know are wrong.
