Why put so much into it??? So, he's been nominated...sounds legitimate to me. We should be able to be who and whatever we want to be in this country. Why not laugh about it? Is it really so bad? What's the big weenie? If it happened in Dallas, it would have been alright. Send him here, we'll accept his nomination.

I bet he could win and that scares the small town folk. Maybe if there woman would shave their legs he wouldn't be competitive.

Why didnt he just try for prom King...you know the one for men! I had a gay guy win it at my school so I do not see why he must ruin the chances for the girls. Its only fair to have men and women on seperate ballets or it will turn into a sexist thing. He is brave to be so open at a young age but im sure the classmates that nominated him did it as a joke. I agree with the school administration on this one.

This is horrific! Where have we as a society gone so wrong that our children are so confused about their gender?? God made us who we are supposed to be. HE IS PERFECT and DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES! God help us because only HE can. I'm thankful I won't be around 50 years from now to witness the damage.

Ok, I don't have a problem with him being gay. The student body nominated him for Prom Queen for what ever reason. One thing the story does not state is if he cross dresses. If he lives as a female, then let him run for queen. However, if he lives as a gay male, then he should run as king. Queen is for girls and if he is not living as a girl, he should not be voted for a female position.
I say way to go for taking a stand and he has to be very brave for being in high school and being openly gay, but the question to me is: How does he live is life? Male or Female?

Don't ya think the fact that a gay teen has been nominated with such support from the community shows how far democratic society has progressed since Stonewall? Things are getting better for gay people, but a lot more has to be done. For example, what about the misguided media attention paid to a gay Miller Brewing executive's murder in the 3rd Ward last year? That was likely a hate crime. The hateful and prejudiced people out there probably view gay people as a threat to the natural order. But whose to say what natural order is when ya got gay whales, orangutans, and penguins? In the final analysis, those hate mongerers usually pipe down when they come to the realization that someone in their own family grows up to be gay. Suddenly they have to step back and re-examine their stance and rhetoric on human rights and sexuality. In my case several of my working colleagues in my workplace are gay, and I love it.

What have we become? First of all, I don't having anything against gay people, that's your choice! But dammit stop pushing in my face. Why don't you just stay in the closet keep quiet, enjoy your gayness and leave me the hell alone!

You people are so intolerant, so judgemental and so vastly hypocritical that I am amazed that you can look at yourself in the mirror and call yourself human beings. Christians are responsible for the Salem Witch Trials, The Crusades and most every other injustice brought upon a people trying to live their life peacefully. We are not homophobic. We are Christians. We beleive in God and Jesus. We do not beleive in homosexuality. If you beleive in God and Jesus you wouldn't think homosexuality is ok. There is a reason they stayed in the closet for so long. I personally feel that if someone thinks they are gay, fine. But I do not want to know about it, hear about it, or be told I have to be tolerant. But it is not me they have to worry about. They know what will happen come judgement day.
