Jonesboro district attorney candidate convicted of domestic abuse battery

Well that's good news, but now what? Are the voters going to be concerned enough to realize that this shows a glimpse of this man's true character? Sure this is his personal life and he's a professional but this man, personal or professional, is the same. Is he the epitome of representation that voters want?
I have my own opinion of Chris and my opinion doesn't matter to anyone else, I know that, but please let me exaggerate that just because he has the biggest and brightest posters up around the voting districts does not mean that he is the best man for the job.

No - but knowing that he is the best attorney running for the office, with the best courtroom presence, and the most knowledge of the law... Well, that does mean that he's best man for the job.

Best attorney? That too could be a matter of opinion. Smart criminals, well scratch that, smart law breakers/benders do have great knowledge of the law and I'd be willing to bet that his presence in the courtroom is undeniably compelling since his arrogance is through the roof.
Needn't worry though, because alot of people who are not interested in investing the time to thoroughly check out a candidate have tendencies to vote for the one whom they are most familiar. So therefore, thanks to those magnificent billboards he has plastered all over the place, your "best man" will still likely be the D.A.

I couldn't agree with you more Realist for the Future. Too bad there aren't more "leaders" than "followers". Maybe people will read this forum and think about it before they go and vote.

It's another sad day for my hometown,JONESBORO,LA.,to know that a man who can abuse his wife-not only mentally,but verbally,physically and publically may be the next D.A.of Jackson parish. It will be a slap in the face to all women who live there who are abused by their husbands.Chris has set some very bad examples for the people there- such as drinking and driving,and being publically intoxicated,committing adultery.(Chris should know that nothing is a secret in Jonesboro.)As for me,I had planned on coming back home, but I have changed my mind since reading how he has only been slapped on the hand by the legal system for a very serious crime. YES- WIFE ABUSE IS A CRIME!! My vote is for Dale Avery!!

It's Darrell Avery now DALE... and I too think he is the best candidate for the job!!

Thanks concerned, I had printed Dale, as that was the name I read in a previous comment,however,I learned tht it really is Darrell Avery. HE IS THE VERY BEST CHOICE FOR D.A.

How can you vote for a Candidate and say he's "The very best choice for D.A" when you don't even know his correct name?

The attorney charged with domestic abuse was sleeping with an underage girl back in '89, his little neighbor.

In reply to Browser- I grew up in Jonesboro, and have known Darrell Avery for many years. He has been a friend, my legal advisor,a great asset to the community. He has an impecable reputation, not like some running for D.A. I also know his wife as a friend. I have been away from there several years, and had read another comment with the name"DALE", and thought perhaps there was a new Avery in town running for D.A. I was so happy to find out that it is Darrell Avery.

Reply to Did u Know. There wasn't any sleeping going on!! Back in the late 70's, he also had an affair with an older woman,married to a "professional man" in town. Back seat in a lincoln! And the list goes on and on.

Chris B. is a Joke. I don't think that he got what he deserved in the courts, but I think he has a rude awakening coming. "What goes around, comes around".

First of all, you should not be on here Memaw making those accusations if you don't know it to be a fact. And if you do know it to be a fact, then that means it was either you or your daughter...further than that...it's merely hearsay. Chris is a very qualified candidate, personal problems aside. I mean, does it matter what the DA does in his private life? If it does, then why in the crap did the constituents of Jackson, Bienville & Claiborne parishes elect Waler May AGAIN after all of his problems. On that line of thought: what about Wesley Horton, he has been indicted, but lest we forget why he was fired from the JPSO??? Theft from the Country Club ring a bell Memaw? Uh Huh.....

Back to the DA race, the incident that Chris was convicted on occured 4 years ago, he and Carol (the ex-wife) setteled their differences back then, and she admitted back then that it was blown out of proportion. It was only brought back to light when the survey came out that Chris had the majority ov the votes in a survey. That is when the "group" that got Carol to re-open this, reared their head and pursued these charges.

If you want to know facts, how about asking Chris Bowman himself. I did. I wanted to know about not only this, but a couple of other things so I called his office, left a message and he called me back and spoke to me at great length about all the issues I had. I don't really know Chris, but I did call. He's not a friend, nor an acquantance, just a candidate that I had questions for.

If you want to know about Mr. Bowman, ask him instead of putting more rumors out on him trying to deface his integrity.

Just My Opinion, could you elaborate on the man named after the D.A. in your above thread? What did he do?
