Lovable community toilet by day & even lower class alterego by night. Those beer joints probably trade the distinction of most blotter incidents each weekend. Perhaps GF downtown would lose some of its dirt-under-the-nails, logger flannel class character if those South Street bars were replaced w/ higher end retail stores. But we'll never know because they're grandfathered in by the city founders.

Went to look at the sky-high priced "Mills" Condos the other day. A young, trendy realtor brought us to an upper floor apartment ($400k+) to experience the lofty vistas of the Adirondacks.
Well, South Street can chalk up another kill... because more prominent that the regal mountains in the distance was the in-your-face, eyeball level filth of South Street and it's crappy, broken-down buildings. The realtor attempted a diversionary tactic, "That's West Mountain over there, and there's French Mountain..."
Meanwhile a stone's throw away, a recently released child-molestor was vomiting beer and dirt dogs out his 2nd floor apartment window in the back of the Madden.
Awesome.

Well it's good to know GF has not changed since I last lived there in 1975. lol
